Need Help with wiring in air wing luggage rack light on a 2014 triglide.

I installed an air wing luggage rack with the light kit. The instructions for wiring the light in is not very clear for the triglide. What are some recommendations for the best way to wire this on the 2014 triglide?:blush:

I'd have the HD dealer do the work....

I agree.

Unless they have clear instructions on how to connect into the canbus wiring on the '14, you could be asking for trouble...it's a whole different ballgame than it used to be.

Thanks guys for the responses. I just hate to pay a $100.00 for wiring in three wires, but maybe this is the best thing to do in the long run.:gah:

Got to watch this thread. I have a air wing rack too. I took it off of my Ultra and put the old luggage rack back on. I was thinking of installing it on the new triglide that I will be getting soon. Didn't think about the new wiring thing that Harley has going on with the 2014's

The nice thing about canbus is-

Far fewer wires
Faster response flashing a tune
More features

Downside is-

Can't just splice in to wires anywhere...most wires are running multiple signals simultaneously and a change in resistance can create problems


Time will tell how reliable the BCM (body control module) is on the '14's

I have a BCM on my '12 Softail and have had no issues...but that is one bike, and it is not the same BCM found on the '14's.

There is a female plug at the right front corner for the optional 12 volt accesory outlet (which I have installed). That should provide you with power and ground for the LED running light ..... but no option there if you want to have the airwing 3rd wire brake light function.

I found out that HD does make a lighting kit for the 2014. It is not listed on their site but if you search for it you will find it. The part number is 68000113. I bought the wrong one its for the 13 and older, it doesn't have the correct y-adapt harness for the 14. The 68000113 light kit list this part 69200772 wire harness as not sold separate but my dealer had one in stock. My dealer is a 150 miles away so I use the HD site for P/A sometimes. I called HD for help in wiring this light in and all they would say is it should work. What a joke HD support SUCKS!!! I contacted my dealer they where great to work with over the telephone. They were how I found out about the part numbers an availability.

I installed it yesterday and everything is good now.
