need help with rake installation

OK,,I decided to do the rake kit myself, I read what was available on several forums and felt pretty confident I could handle the job. Now, my Honda is an 07' gold wing, so I bought a manual just in case. I start the job following the procedures I had downloaded from several Honda sites. All went well until I removed the top triple tree bridge nut and started to lift off the top bridge. It is hitting a part that I have not seen in any manual or other instructions.It is a forked brace right under the ignition switch. Size: ">Attachment 8060</a> It looks to me as more covers(gas tank,etc.) need to be removed. Someone tell me its not necessary and the solution is quite simple

I do not believe this is part of the kit, to me it appears Honda made and is probably standard equipment. My guess....

On either side of the ignition mount is a bolt that must be removed so the mount and this part that is in your way can be moved. Yes the manual doesn't mention it because they use the non-NIVI model to do their manual. The larger meter assembly dictates the need to remove this mount.<br />

I suggest you get a magnet up close to that bolt as you pull it up. If you drop it I doubt if you will get it back easily.

</div>YES...!!!.....I helped a Mechanic at my Honda Dealer on one of these...<b>FOR SURE HANG ONTO THAT BOLT</b>, or You may have the same fate my Mechanic Buddy did when He let it drop.....took more "dismantling" to retrieve it.....<img src="images/smilies/thumbup.gif" border="0" alt="" title="ThumbUp" class="inlineimg" />

Okay thanks for the inf0, I was hoping to avoid any more dismantling but I had to get at those bolts. Didn't drop the bolt but did drop a 8mm socket but I got that damn top triple tree bracket off. It seems there is always a bolt or screw that ends up taking 2-3 times the time needed and leaves one to strong cussing. Please stick close as I'm sure I may need you again.. Thanks again
