Need Alternator for 2002 GL1800

Last night the wing died. The alternator is not charging. Were is a good place to get a new one?
bayoudave,
Before you go out buy a new alternator, have you checked it all out. Here is a story, which happened to a friend of mine. He thought the genator was gone because it was not charging, could afford a new one so the bike sat for three years as he had other cost. He finally got around to working on his bike and lo and behold he found out the generator was fine it was a loose bolt on the belt pully which didn't get the generator up to speed to charge.
Don't know if this applies, but food for thought.
Good luck!

You might want to check in your area to see where they rebuild Alternators. Brushes and or bearings are not all that expenseve. I pulled mine at 75,000 and the shop told me to come back in a 100,000 and he would check it again. Be careful with some after market alternators from China, I read some of them were failing at 7 or 8,000 miles. Good luck. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry

Check your cruise control fuse, it also controls the charging. Charley

A few years ago my 1500 stopped chargeing.I removed alt. and found brushes were stuck from dust.(fit to tight in brush holder)@80,000 mi. still had 60% life left. I could have save myself some time if I tapped and blew so air into alt.food for thought?

The 1500 alternator will need attention at 65,000 miles the 1800 will need alternator work at 85,000 miles. Check brushes. Cost me $50.00 it have mine fixed.

Picked the trike up this afternoon. New alternator (old one was fried), new brakes, oil change, check and adjust trike (trike was low on the left side). We are ready to head to Arkansas in the morning for 11 days of enjoying the fall colors and attending the CMA Changing of Colors Rally. Thanks for all the responses.
