Hello, well I’ve been on two wheels for about 50 years and a lot of miles. Thinking about buying a trike I’m not getting any younger looking at a 2001 Valkyrie trike with 37,000 miles on it. It has a trailer that comes with it and they want 10 grand for it. What should I look out for and is that a good buy? Any advice that you people with experience have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a really good day.

I assume you mean a pull behind cargo trailer. If so, then 10 grand isn't too far out of line. I feel it is a little high because the Valk isn't produced anymore and maintenance costs could be a limiting factor for me. It has six carburetors so if you aren't familiar with tuning them you will have to find someone and pay them. I don't know about availability of other parts.
The only thoughts I have are why doesn't it have more miles on it. Did they not ride it much because it wasn't comfortable, didn't like the way it handled or what? The Valk doesn't have much protection in front of you compared to the GoldWing or other touring bike. I personally like the fairing and windshield for wind protection and the electronic goodies that go with it.
Hopefully some Valk owners will chime in on maintenance costs. I believe they are a reliable machine and should be capable of giving you a lot of fun miles.

Thank you all for the welcome and thank you Deplorable for the information. I have never owned a Gold wing Or Valkyrie. Lil green on the subject. Thanks an have a great day. And yes it's a trailer to be pulled by the trike.

Welcome to TrikeTalk Rob! I know there were 3 versions of the Valkyrie. The standard which is basically naked, the Tour which added saddlebags and a windshield, and finally the Interstate which had a fairing and trunk with saddlebags. Any idea which model this one is?

And Valkyries are beasts. But as @Deplorable points out, they do require a bit more maintenance and hopefully you have some mechanical skills to save in labor. Like what was pointed out, instead of 2 carbs, they have 6. And the motor is basically the same one that was in the GL1500 Goldwings but with a twist. The valves on the GL1500 were hydraulic so needed no maintenance but on the Valkyrie, they are not hydraulic and would need to be checked every so often based on mileage. Also I'm not sure if the Valkyrie uses timing belts like it's GL1500 brother but if so, they need to be changed out every 10 years or 100,000 miles.

The price seems ok especially if it includes the trailer. Do you have any info you can share about the trailer?

Welcome to Trike Talk from San Antonio, Tx What type of kit does the the Valkyrie have? That would also should be in decision process? Availability of parts for both the bike and trike kit? From what I know Honda will not work on bikes 10 years old and older. So you will have to seek a independent mechanic for repairs. If not turning wrenches yourself.

Thanks again, It is motor trike kit. It has over an under trunk. Dual headlights in the faring. Its a nice looking trailer but I can't see a name on it. Thanks an have a great day. OleCat

So looks like it started life as a Valkyrie Interstate then. And Motortrike is still around and doing fine so I would say it sounds like a good way to go.
