The SUN will be shinning on us even if it is raining. We will be among friends and the smiles will be our umbrellas. We can go in cars if we have to .It is about meeting people. I will be going on the trike even if it rains.I figure if I was in Sheboygan on the trike I would have to ride it in the rain. Maybe without Honey... Although she is tougher than she looks ... Or if it looks real bad I will take my other toy...
So who is with me. We have until Fri morning to fill it in.
I don't want to be the only one there. I can't give the trophies to myself and win all the goodies .

I would have liked it to be decided before Friday morning as I'm planning on leaving here by 6:30 or 7:a.m. friday, on the Trikes,NYTRIKER will be meeting me. I would hope if anyone had second thoughts they would voice there feelings as we'll be traveling 417 miles to get there and it'll take the day. I know some of the other members will be arriving Friday night, but then again some people are worried about the weather. If the people that have only a couple of hours to travel are hesitant, then we should know as I don't want to travel all that way and only have a few Trikes, but like someone already mentioned safety first..........tis

Well I am entertaing a vote . I am putting it out there . I too don't want to drive up and be there all alone. We have a whole night to decide. We are not on the coast. the people on the cost will want to stay there as they will be driving into in on sat night .I have seen things cancelled before only to have the WEATHER people be all WET with their prediction. NO pun intended . Not saying this is the case but I have seen them be wrong before. I think it is gona stall in N. Carolina and not get here till late Sun .
Let's all be as honest as we can. I expect some rain, soooo if u aint rain riding people bow out now . We got people coming a long way. They should be told before Thursday at say 7:00pm.
NEW list
Who is not coming and already know it .

I just watch the weather channel it says we could be in for the worst weather most of us have ever seen. Now they say it could be a foot of rain, tornados ,hail, 100 mph winds ?? Im only 8 miles away from the Quabin so i do not care , I would not want to be 300 - 400 miles away from home if this does hit.We have allready had a tornado on 6-1 this year destroyin hundreds of homes many severe storms that destroyed homes & cars. I DO NOT THINK ITS A GOOD IDEA ??????????????????????????

Forecasters see Irene striking North Carolina's Outer Banks region on Saturday evening and then taking a coast-hugging track up the mid-Atlantic and New England coastline.

Hurricane-force winds extend 60 miles from Irene's center so even a track off the coast could do damage on land. Hurricane-force winds extend 230 miles out.

"The exact center of the storm may stay close to the coastline Saturday and then become a threat to Long Island on Sunday," Reid said. "Be advised it will be a large circulation as it moves north of the Carolinas so the hurricane force winds, beach erosion, tidal surges will be in play as the storm progresses."

I will be there no matter what. Look at it as a free power wash for the bike and getting to skip bath night.Everyone, don't forget to anti-fog those goggles.

Just pored (pun intended) over the weather. less than 1" is all that is expected between LI & MA. the hurricane winds are not expected in either location until Sunday.
The hurricane, of course, follows the earthquake. I believe the locusts are due on Tuesday of next week. I feel like it is Passover again.

If its pouring out, no. If its not yes, mild rain yes. I'll just drive there, if need be. Local weather says later sat. as it is now.

Sorry folks, after me just writing my son - who wants to got to atlantic city this weekend, to "not go far from home this weekend" I am going to pass on the ride- Yes it will probably just be raining in Mass till Sunday when the wind hits hard, its just not worth the risk-- remembering that some us do live on an island (although a big one)-
Feds are still too concerned about the mid-atlantic to give comment on NY-NE. I know a lot of people use the weather channel or weather.com--- but in the case please use weather.gov. that is what we use for our emergency planning--
Be safe--- I will keep my eyes open for the next ride-- Hal

Sorry mates, have to take the big white whale down so Irene don't set him free &amp; blow him out in the ocean . lol. We are only two miles from the beach .May have to lower the nets on batting cagers too . This will have to be done Sat.<br /><br />
Those of you who may go , have fun, &amp; be safe. Who knows , the season is not over yet, we may be able to get together &amp; plan for next years rally too. I talked about an irontriker trophy on the other thread , just a thought , maybe fun ? <br /><br />
We are not quitters, we just don't want to fight mother nature, would rather roll along with her , safer that way <img src="images/smilies/GL1800smilie.gif" border="0" alt="" title="GL1800" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="images/smilies/thumbup.gif" border="0" alt="" title="<img src="images/smilies/thumbup.gif" border="0" alt="" title="ThumbUp" class="inlineimg" />" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="images/smilies/coffee1.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Coffee" class="inlineimg" /><br /><br />
Thank you, &amp; everyone, please stay safe.<br /><br />

All things considered, I'm all for taking Road Dog up on his offer to barbecue at his place, rather than getting caught in a rain storm out on the Mohawk Trail. I'll happily pitch in the $$$, if he promises I don't have to actually cook anything!! ;)

Keeping travel distances in mind, some are coming in cars because of the weather expected for their ride home on Sunday - this would give them a chance to spend time with the rest of the group even though they didn't bring a trike, instead of being left behind or just trailing along.

Plus, to be perfectly honest, I'm not the strongest rider out there, and I don't know yet how I'd handle getting caught in rain - I'd hate to find out on a group ride!!

Just my two cents....rushing to beat the 7pm "deadline".

That said - who am I meeting for dinner on Friday night now?? :D

The weather channel says strom coming over this area late sat., sunday. Car is mode of transportation being called for, calling it off or meetting at someones house ok with me. Anything outdoors ???able, so someone make a call, it may make more sense for everyone to stay close to home this weekend. Traveling in a car may even be dangerous if roads get rained out, so whatever gets called is fine with me.

Hi Cheri,<br />
<br />
Jeannette and I will be getting an early start tomorrow morning. We would like to meet for Friday dinner if possible. We will be staying at the Quality Inn in Sturbridge. Will PM Jeannette's cell phone number. As for Saturday, A cookout at Road Dog's would be great. We will gladly help with the $$$ or supplies. Just let us know. We can discuss Friday night, if you want.<br />
<br />
Thanks!

A cookout would be fine also. Whatever everybody wants to do is fine with us. I will assume any trikes I see in Sturbridge are for this. Not sure of a good location for Friday dinner. Any suggestions Cheri? Just needs to be Handicap accessible for my wife (still on walker most of time).

In that case, I'm thinking Applebee's would be best. Level from parking lot to table, if I remember correctly. From either hotel, take Rt 20 East, go under Rt 84, it'll be in the shopping mall on your left about a mile or so after that - left at the light, and left into the parking lot. 6:30ish sound ok to everyone?
(I'm coming from work, so can't get there much before then - maybe 6ish, if I really push it!)

Right now, NOAA (my bible) isn't calling for much here until late Saturday, and weather.com is saying afternoon thunderstorms, but after the 6/1 tornadoes most of us in the area are a bit on the cautious side, I believe - I know I am! My instinct is to stay closer to home "just in case".

I don't know if it'd be too late to take Road Dog up on his invitation - if it is, then maybe we could just go to the restaurant on Rt 202 like last year, depending on what the weather is actually DOING at the time. We also haven't heard from kkaykk, BuggiePilot, or Rob&Lyn yet, so still no idea how many of us there's going to be!

I think it would be kinda tuff to change the eating arrangments for Saturday, it would take a bit of planning. We kind of have to stick to John's guidelines that he set up, or else everything will fall apart, just my 2 cents worth......tis

Well we went from 17 trike to looks like maybe 5. and 2 might be cars. We Honey and I a re still on the trike maybe pulling a trailer. Looks like longest traveled is tis . If we go by "on a trike". I have a few raffle prizes, Nothing to write home about but they are pretty neat. I think we should still do that. As for the ride. I really don' care .If is is not pouring by 2 We could ride the trail, I can go home by way of Pittsfield / North Adams. I was looking forward to my 1st ride on a Stallion and a VW trike. Always next year I guess.

All sounds good. We will be on our trike. I've ridden in worse. I'll bring some good weather stories with me. See you all then. Applebee's sounds good.

We could meet real quick at the tower and head for the indoors for our meet and greet.

WE CAN meet at our house saturday/ rather than meet at the QUABBIN were off rt 181 in belchertown its about 4 miles from the mass pike Rt 90, any suggestions on what we want to eat or any other ideas ???

Road dog, that is a nice invite. My 2 cents. I would guess that anybody coming has already mapped out the meeting place, but maybe 1st meeting there at tower wouldn't be so bad and seeing what the weather is doing. I just went through the hourly forcast for that area. Only calling for 40% chance of showers through 6pm Sat. That means 60%chance of sunshine/rainbows/unicorns! :Joker3:

Just a thought....meet at the Quabbin since most have already planned that. If the weather's holding, head up to the restaurant we ate at last year on Rt 202 - that'll give us at least a little ride. Then we can gather at Road Dog's for social time - that'll keep us closer to our starting places so that if the weather turns we can all get "home" (home, hotels, etc) a little quicker.

Not sure how others feel - it's 5am, so my "thinking" might be a bit cloudy. ;)

i think we will be fine until around 2 pm . and not to bad until about 6 . after that we play it by ear. Me I will be heading home by 6PM Long or short depending on the weather

My weather channel says 40 percent chance of showers by 10 , 60 percent by 2:00, 90 percent by 6:00, why dont we meet by 9 instead of 12 we eat at the resturant by noon by 1 - 2 everyboby can be on there way before the real bad weather gets here . JUST A THOUGHT ???????????

Yes, earlier would be better. Really getting concerned about getting back to NJ.

- Hurricane watch issues for areas along the coast north of New Jersey, including Long Island, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, Mass.
- Hurricane warning area now extends from N.C. coast northward to Sandy Hook, N.J., which is just south of New York City.
- Hundreds of thousands told to evacuate in N.C., Md., N.J., Va. areas.
- NYC orders hospitals, nursing homes in low-lying areas to evacuate.
- 8 injured by rough ocean in Fla.
- New York, Connecticut join N.C., Va., Md. and N.J. in declaring state of emergency.
- Hundreds of homes destroyed in Bahamas.
