Good tips ozarkryder! To test the trunk door seal, take a dollar bill and close the trunk door on it. Give it a pull, and if it comes out very easily the door gasket isn't sealing. Do this around the perimeter of the trunk, the loosest places are candidates for leaks. As mentioned, latches may need to be adjusted, or the gasket may be worn out and needing replacement.
To find other leaks you may have to get down on your knees in a dark garage, stick your head in the trunk and have someone shine a light from the outside where wiring comes through. If you see light from from the inside of the trunk, there is a leak. On our 1995 GL1500 Motor Trike a rubber seal was cracking, and I sealed up the hole with RTV.
After that fix, and with our current GL1800 Champion, even though there are no leaks, for insurance I put stuff in the trunk in dry bags from a camping store just to make sure the items that should stay dry remain that way.
