Welcome to Trike Talk, from S/W Ohio.
if your asking for info for your honda I'd recommend posting on the Honda Trikes forum here and you'll get a lot more response.

I don't think Honda Shadows have trunks, going to Honda will not help......what you need to do is find out who made the conversion kit that was used on that Shadow to make it a trike and go to their website to see if they might be of any help. If not, check with the "tech" section here at TT to see if you can get any info from them. A lot will depend on "why" it is leaking, not a good seal, a crack, loose hinges, stuff like that. Try to see where it is leaking to find the problem so you can talk to someone with knowledge about how to fix it. If it is just seepage around the door, you might check into some door sealer for your house or car and see if you can make that work. Sorry that I can't help with any knowledge.....just my thoughts on the subject.

Call up the service department at www.motortrike.com and share your problem with them! It's very likely they'll have an answer for you.

Anywhere that a bolt, screw or wire goes through your trunk can be the source of a leak. My trike had a leak where the license plate bracket bolted on. Every time I rode through rain, the trunk liner would get wet!

The fix is likely to be a very simple one! Good luck with it! :) :GL1800::GL1800::GL1800::GL1800:

I had a leak on my trunk on the 1500 Goldwing. Turned out to be the door gasket. I called Motortrike and they sent me a new gasket (free of charge). They also told me that if you don't lube the gasket a couple of times a year they will get stiff and crack causing a leak. I would look at the gasket first and see if it looks to be sealing. If the seal looks good then look for other places as mentioned above (bolts and wiring). Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to Trike Talk from Missouri. I 2nd the ideal about keeping the seal lubed with armorer all or even WD40 will help. Anything to help keep the seal soft and flexible.

I had a leak in my trunk also, this was my cure!:D

my motor trike kit had the same problem. I found the rubber seal around the wiring had popped out of the hole. think that fixed it but I will be looking at that door seal . I like silly cone lube for this.

To test the trunk door seal, take a dollar bill and close the trunk door on it. Give it a pull, and if it comes out very easily the door gasket isn't sealing. Do this around the perimeter of the trunk, the loosest places are candidates for leaks. As mentioned, latches may need to be adjusted, or the gasket may be worn out and needing replacement.

To find other leaks you may have to get down on your knees in a dark garage, stick your head in the trunk and have someone shine a light from the outside where wiring comes through. If you see light from from the inside of the trunk, there is a leak. On our 1995 GL1500 Motor Trike a rubber seal was cracking, and I sealed up the hole with RTV.

After that fix, and with our current GL1800 Champion, even though there are no leaks, for insurance I put stuff in the trunk in dry bags from a camping store just to make sure the items that should stay dry remain that way.

Good tips ozarkryder!
Until I found the leak in my trunk, I lined it with a small inexpensive tarp and wrapped the luggage in it. Cheap and temporarily effective!
