I added Mud Flaps to my VTX1800 with a Roadsmith kit. Got tired of folks complaining about junk and rain coming from the tires on rides.
Sooooooooooo;
Mud flaps $20.00
Angle iron $11.00
Assorted nuts and bolts $5.00

I went to my local Auto Zone took 5 sets of truck flaps out to the trike . Found the ones that looked the best bought LED Stop running , turn trailer lights and attached them to the flap and bolted them on.

Roadsmith makes lighted mudflaps with "Roadsmith" lighted. Yopu can have other wording lighted if you wish. I splurged and bought 'em - adds even more lights top the back of the bike.

I was spending THOUSANDS on the Roadsmith kit and at my age it may be the last bike I'll ever own so I felt guilty but I indulged myself and got the "custom" model.
But I sure do admire the ingenuity of you other guys!

Joe,

Mud flaps look great! Here is something to think about if it becomes a problem.

I have mounted several sets of flaps like you used on different applications over the years. I have one concern for you that I hope will help or at least let you make the decision to do anything or not.

If you roll the trike backwards parking against a curb or anything for that matter, since it looks to me that the flaps are solid mounted, you will bend those if they hit and run the risk of putting stress on your fiberglass fenders. Just a thought for you to ponder.

Fix I use, cut a couple inch wide strip of heavy rubber ( truck floor mat, I use old conveyer belt, whatever) mount that to the angle, then mount the flap to the rubber. It allows the flap to hang there and if you back into something it just swings back, no damage to flap or trike.

Trucker asked about "the custom" model:

Yes, Barry - take a look at accessories on the Roadsmith site and you will find lighted mudflaps that, when lit, show the word "Roadsmith". You may have it customized to your choice of words. It really adds to the light array onthe back of the trike. For me it was worth the money. Conspicuity is a major part of safety.

Fantastic idea, thank you.

That was my first thought also..... If you have a Tractor supply go by and get a small section of the wide belt material, and cut a couple of inches wide for the top. Save a lot of grief later...
Looks good.. ThumbUp
