How many have mud flaps on the triglides, I am thinking of getting some, I do not like the Kuryatyn ones, thinking of the harley ones which say triglide on it, it doesn't say how long they are, was looking at J & P cycle and I like the POW/MIA one's since I'm a army vet during that time. One is 8 inches long and the other in 6 inches long. The only problem I don't like about them is drilling holes in fender for them.

I remember seeing a post quite a spell back before I joined that somebody glued their's on, I like that idea if the glue would hold with all the crap hitting on it.

I have them on mine.

They are more about SEE & BE SEEN than anything else for me.

They function as Run, Brake and turn lights.

Flaps

DK does have a real nice set up -only thing I don't like is the chrome piece........ever get calls for plain 'black'
ones Kevin?
Shiny BLACK is the new chrome!

+1 on the shiny black. I would like to have one for the front about an inch or so longer than the stock one also.

Take the stock front fender trim off and trace it onto a piece of cardboard extending it 1" or whatever length you like and cut it out. Take the template to a sheet metal shop and have them make you an extension out of aluminum as it's easier to work with. Drill new mounting holes matched to the fender and rattle can it black.

I was looking to do the same thing, not drilling holes, and found a way as have others. Go buy a roll of 3M exterior automotive double sided tape (wider the better). It's the tape they use to stick exterior trim on cars, so it's made to be exposed to the elements. Heat it up a bit until it just starts to bubble (makes it sticker) and put it on the mudflaps. Let it cure for a day or so and do the same thing for the part that gets stuck to the inside rear of the fenders.

Be damned sure you've got it positioned right before sticking it on there. Once it gets hold of the fender, it won't let go. I had people tell me that it wouldn't work, but it's been over three years now and nothings fallen off yet. You can also put some caulking around the outside edge of the tape to seal water out, which should help it last longer. Good luck with your choice!!

I have the HD "Tri-Glide" mud flaps on my '13 on the rear....don't give a rat's arse about the drilled holes in the fender! Mud flap on front fender...can't remember where I got it.:xszpv:

Thanks, looking into that already.

GoSlo, I have used the 3M tape for many things over the years and it is great when used properly as you stated. I am looking around for different materials to use and I am leaning toward something flexible with it being down that close to the ground. I keep hoping that somebody like DK Custom will come up with one similar using the tape. That would keep me from having to form one. I will be keeping my eyes open for some material that looks suitable.

Can't Edit...

Well I guess you can't edit post in here after you post it. Anyway, I meant to add I was actually looking at something around 3 inches long instead of just 1 inch. I don't really want it to go too close to the road surface. ThumbUp

Maybe not the exact answer you're looking for but it wouldn't cost very much to have the chrome pieces powdercoated Gloss Black.

Before I installed the 2015 Rushmore air cleaner on our 2011 trike,I had it powdercoated Gloss Black. Cost was $25.

I wanted to put mudflaps on my Tri Glide but didn't want to drill holes in the fenders. After remembering what I used years ago I finally found Gorilla snot ( glue to u guys) I used it years ago and never had a problem. So far these have been on for a month or so and are holding tight. I bought it at Charleston auto parts in Vegas. The behind the counter was an older guy and he knew what Gorilla snot was. Smear some one each part when tacky stick together and hold for a short time or stuff something between tire and mudflap to hold in place. I let mine set for a couple of hours. I think its a nice clean look. Mud flaps are 8" high x 10 1/2 wide.

Their still on after a long hot summer here in Las Vegas Nv

When u put the glue on remember it wont show and some times too much is just right. put glue on mudflap and inside fender well.

The chrome piece can be powdercoated. Keep in mind, when powdercoating over chrome, every now and then the chrome will bubble off the metal.

Another, safer, option is to paint it with semi-gloss and then use a gloss clear. That way you end up with a good glossy black finish and no chance of any bubbling.

On the front, I really like what we did with the Project Tri-Glide, with the help of NHBagger.

Used the same holes & fasteners that are already there for the stock piece.

Used some HD emblems and bolted it up. It is not black, but this piece is stainless and would be easy to powder glossy black to match the mud flaps.

67wizard, thanks for the posting the pic of that mudflap, I seen them on J & P cycle and I like them, wasn't to sure if I wanted the 6" or the 8". I see you went with the 8" and it looks good, how far off the ground are they and do you have a lift kit installed since my has a lift kit, just curious how much ground clearance their will be, we don't have the best roads around here with quite a few dips, don't want the mudflap dragging the ground, leaning more toward this after seeing the pic instead of the harley one that says triglide on it. Still thinking of a front one also, I seen one poster put the triglide one on the front but harley doesn't sell just one.

No lift kit. Don't see a need for one, bottom of mudflap about the same height as bottom of mufflers. I can measure in the morning if u still need the number.

I use to live in Rockford Iowa, been through your city many times.

67 wizard, if you wouldn't mind I would appreciate it, I know your's is the 8" but without a lift kit, I know mine has the lift kit and from the ground to very bottom center of fender mine sits at 11", so that would give me a idea if to go with the 8" or 6". I have seen the triglide one's from harley and they are not very long in height, without measuring I guess they would be around 3 or 3 1/2" after installation. With a lift kit on mine I would imagine the 8" would be fine, but streets around here are not the best.

Ok just measured and bottom of mudflap is 3 1/2 off the ground with 28psi in shocks.

Only thing I watch for is big speed bumps and coming up my driveway. Always go at an angle so as not to drag mufflers. I went bigger mud flaps to cover more area behind the fender.
I pack double most of the time, no trouble.

I went this way to be different. Come up with your own ideas,
be different. don't have be follow the crowd. Send pictures when your done. Thanks

67 wizard, I know what you mean about following everybody else, if I put mud flaps on, I will be the only one with them on, I have not seen a trike around this area with mud flaps and all my friends that live out of town don't have them either. So if I put them on I would be different than everyone else, LOL.
