I bought a new 2011 triglide last fall.I put aprox. 5700 miles on it before parking it over winter.I averaged a lil over 34mpg.I have done nothing to it over winter other then chrome the wheels.I have now put a lil over 1000 miles on it this yr.& I am now averaging 30mpg.What can be causing this.I ride the same areas & the same gas stations.thanks for any ideas!

Arnie..your milage sounds about right to me. I have done major engine mods on my '11 and get around 31 to 33 mpg no matter how I drive it. 2up, mountain passes, flats, fast, slow, it makes no difference. Have just over 10,000 miles on it.

Winter blend gas ?

heyTrent.Yea 30 would be the # had it not been for 34 last yr.When do they change fuel from winter blend?

I was getting 35 mpg on my 2011 but was getting a lot of pinging so put on a PCV now get 30 mpg if I run 60 to 65 mph if I step it up to 70-72 mpg drop to 26-27 so you are still good different blend fuel as allready mentioned is all that has changed. good luck

Did you change out to winter air in your tires last fall? During the cool/warm and freeze/thaw cycles the summer air gets heavier, and more weight to haul around makes for less mileage. It also gets "mushy", and the softer air doesn't hold the tire up as hard, also adding to rolling resistance, almost like running at a very low PSI. So always switch to winter air in the fall, but don't forger to go back to fresh summer air in the spring. Make sure you don't get the cheap stuff from China - check for the U.S. Barometric Science 2010 certification. ;)

Seriously, the gas in the tank might have gone stale and even caused some varnish build up in the fuel system. Draining the gas for lawnmower use and running a fuel system cleaner for a few tankfuls may help. Personally, I like Seafoam. It is a gas stabilizer/conditioner and fuel system cleaner. There are a bunch of different brands out there at your local friendly auto store.

Also, in some areas they really do have different seasonal formulations of gas. This may affect the MPG a bit.

2011 Tri, Ive gotten a low of 27 and a high of 40, The 40 was the first tank after i went to true duals no cat stock mufflers [drilled the baffle out of the left one] But I'm going to run a few more tank fulls before i claim it realy does get 40. Filling the tank the same way with the bellows gas nozzle makes for inaccurate figures.

Hey Ozark. Thanks!I just ordered some from Air Bay.Gotta a heck of a deal & it's made in the good ole USA!If you go to order some becareful, some people are still selling the winter air!
