Hey Guys, Hope all is well and everyone had a great holidays. Santa brought me a tour pack but he forgot the mounting bracket. I need some advise Do I mount the T/P directly to my RK/MT gladiator trunk,Do I get one of the disconnecting brackets,Or do I install a luggage rack on the trunk and mount the T/P to the rack. I,m not to happy about drilling holes in my trunk and I definitely only want to do it once

I wouldn't advise mounting the tour pack to the body/shell in ANY WAY. Most trike manufacturers either utilize the Harley OEM type loops rails and lp bracket, or have their own version of it.

What can and probably will "bite you" if you do mount to the glass isn't so much just the pack, but what about when you have it loaded, add to that a passenger leaning back on the backrest portion? Your body IS NOT designed to handle that sort of load. Not to mention, you'd be hard pressed to find a body shop that would do a repair if it did crack; and if they do, likely will not stand behind their work because of the high probability of the cracks re-appearing over time. I don't know about you, but a few hundred bucks worth of brackets is a lot cheaper than having to purchase a replacement body for your trike, or paying to have your fixed in my opinion.

I have the gladiator on my ultra . t/p mounts to the frame not the body. it needs some kind of lift to keep the bottom off the paint . my installers didn't do that and I have a mess under it now. I used a spacer for now but thinking about making some rubber mounts out of thick hose.

I have an Ultra Classis/Lehman Renegade and the TP mounts to the top of the trike body trunk. The body has the grooves to match the bottom of the TP. The body is very thick fiberglass and is not going anywhere. 34,000 miles and all is fine.

Thanks All, I contacted M/T they are sending me the mounting hardware They say I have to notch the body to install. I have to purchase OEM bracket. Either way notch or drill it's gonna hurt !

had to drill and mount luggage rack on my tour pack. took me 3 days to get up the courage to start drilling.

slow and easy is the key measure 4 times and cut a smaller hole than you need.

Is the lid still fiberglass? If it is be real careful not to chip the gelcote (service under the paint), put masking tape on the area where you are going to drill and start off with smaller drill bit. When removing the tape don't pull it off in one direction, pull it slowly in one direction while holding the tape to the other side of the hole then pull it off in the opposite direction again slowly.

I always measure once and then drill/cut a number of times!
