MotorTrike Brakes

I contacted MT today, and they said my GW 2000 GL1500 SE w/ Classic II conversion, has disc brakes that were discontinued 7 years ago. It seems some deakers were getting disc brakes from MT and putting them on kits. I seems that I am looking for two smaller disc pads, that MT has no recomendations for.

Has anyone else come across this situation and found replacements? Would love some insight, rather than taking pads out, and standing at the parts store trying to match them (MT suggestion!)

Thanks :Trike1:

Re: Motor Trike Brakes

I hate to even suggest this but you may have to retro fit to the newer style calipers. I just know that would be costly!!! As I understand it the old style were not off the shelf and when MT switched to the new ones that source dried up.

I seem to recall Richard told me they lost a bunch of information form years gone by some time ago due to a computer crashing. Probable wish they had back that sucker up but 20-20 hind sight is really good....

Mike,
Does Brookings have a auto supply that specializes in or sells bake pads? If so, it may be worth a try to take the pads off the trike to take them in to see if they can find a match. Key is to find a tech that actually is knowledgeable enough to know what to look for. May have to take in the caliper to see if the tech can check any numbers stamped in the metal against a data base. Installing different calipers would seem to me to be super difficult to match up all the mounting bolts that are already on the trike against a caliper that may be around the same size.

Good luck.........

I have a 2008 1800 gold wing with a monarch 11 leman conversion kit. I am trying to get right rear brakes. Told that leman no longer sells the brakes. I have no idea the number or where to get it. If anyone would like to share info. Thanx
