There are a lot of new trike drivers in the Austin, Texas area. I'm often asked if there is a course just for trikes. I remember someone on this forum mention a course in the Killan, Texas area. Is there someone still teaching trike driving courses? There is gonna be a motorcycle accident scene management course at the Centeral Texas dealer in Round Rock, Texas on June 2, 2012. limited spaces left. check the central texas HOG web site for more info. I'm gonna be there. 9:00 to 5:00 next saturday. thanks curley ThumbUp

Curley, the guy in our Killeen GWRRA chapter hasn't taught any trike courses for the past few months - I'll try to find out if any are scheduled thru the summer and will keep you posted.

Thanks!!

I live in north Texas and would love to find a trike riders course to get my endoresment. I can not take a two wheel course because my legs won't hold up a two wheeler. Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

When I was looking for a course just a few months ago, I found one in Ceder Hill that offered the course but in a new search I can not find them again but you may check around.

Have emailed the head of our GWRRA chapter and asked that they pass the request for info along to the member who has been teaching the course. Should have some more dates for you in a few days, with luck!!

Got an answer for y'all - - (How's that for quick?)

Nancy:
I am free the weekends of 06-08 and 09…07-6 and 07-07…07-20 and 07-21.

If the TRC can be held in Killeen the classroom portion will be on Friday night (6:00 P.M. till 9:30 P.M.); the range portion on Saturday from 08:00 A.M. till 12:00 Noon; I will coordinate the details.

If the TRC is held in a location of the members’ choice, the chapter supporting the TRC must make all the classroom and range arrangements, but my decision on usability of the classroom and range is required.

On either location the cost is $75.00 per Trike or $100.00 for rider/co-rider. The chapter supporting the event will receive $30.00, per Trike, to be refunded and used for the chapter’s RE activities.

PM me if y'all do want to come to Killeen for this, and I'll give you the guy's cell phone so you can set it up personally.

Does this course count as the safety course required to get a motorcycle endorsement in Texas? Thanks

Jay, yes - all you have to do is pass the written part - the course serves as the driving test!

Tom, the class in Killeen is limited to a dozen or fewer students - you need to touch base with the instructor personally if you want to attend!!

Hi Blondie Gal -

Do you still have the guy's phone number, who does the training in Kileen. Can't find any three wheel classes here in San Antonio. My wife has finally gotten tired of riding co-pilot and wants to pilot her own three wheeler. She unable to hold up a two wheeler up.

Thank you,

That is not a problem, have already done that and gotten through my nrevous breakdown. Now she wants to get her M endorsement but I am having trouble finding a class that is for Trikes only. She can not handle a two wheeler.

I took the trike course about 6 months ago in Lufkin , TX there was 6 of us in the class and all but me was not from Lufkin some was from San Antonio and Austin, they said Lufkin was the only place to get trike and side car classes. with the safety class you can get a discount on you insur. I did 10 % the name and phone # Pineywoods riders Academy Ph # ( 936)637-7555 or 674-6767 the mans name is Marcus Renfroe . I have been told there are not many in the hole south center US. old has been said it

If the closest course requires that you stay overnight some place far from home, I urge you to do it. Unless you are a certified instructor, your spouse will not learn all he/she should from your teaching in a parking lot, but will certainly learn what you are doing wrong. Learning to ride 2- or 3-wheel is hard enough. If you value your sanity and that of your spouse, pay for a third-party, certified instructor to do the teaching, even if you have the added cost of an overnight stay. It is easier to learn to do it right than to unlearn how you are doing it wrong. How much is your spouse worth to you?

Elsewhere on this forum (http://www.triketalk.com/forum/gene...osed-new-sticky-trike-training-courses-14347/), I am trying to compile a list of course providers. If you find one, please post it there.
