My husband I flew from Sacramento to Spokane, WA to purchase a Valkyrie trike in Moses Lake. We flew with all the winter gear in two bags, one bag with clothes and toiletries, a laptop and a carry-on with stuff.
Little did we know that the Valkyrie Motortrike has a lower trunk the size of a small laptop! Fortunately the trike included a rack that attaches to the hitch.
We wore 90% of the winter gear and packed everything else (including a full trike cover, the manuals and a brake bleed kit) in the two bags, the little bitty lower trunk and the top trunk. Amazing what one can do when there are few options.
We left Moses Lake around 9 a.m. when the temps. got up to 47 degrees. For the remainder of the ride to Klamath Falls the temps never got above 53, it was cloudy and windy.
Just south of Crescent, Oregon it began to snow...and continued snowing until we reached Klamath Falls. Temp. 48 with a wind chill of 27...
This morning we left Klamath Falls at 10 a.m. and the temps were still at freezing, but the roads were dry.
We added another layer of clothing and an extra pair of socks.
By the time we reached Redding, CA we were peeling off gear. Once again finding little pockets of storage we didn't know we had!
I can say that all the roads leading south from Moses Lake were in good condition. There was a small section of construction, but only a 5 minute delay. The interchange at I-84 and Hwy 97 south at Biggs Junction was without difficulty.
Lake Shasta is looking a bit low.
Aside from the snow, wind and cold temps it was an awesome ride. Little traffic. The trike runs like a Honda should! Would I do it again at this time of year - NO WAY.
