Montana 2-Wheeler Looking to Make the Swap

Hello All,

Been riding most of my life on 2 wheels and now the wife has decided that she would feel safer riding on 3 wheels. I can't get her on the back of the Heritage anymore. I've ridden most everything at one time or another as far as makes but never rode 3 wheels. I like my Harley but not hung up on the brand. What is everyones opinion on Honda vs Harley and are there any other options out there? Look forward to the learning experience.

Jim ..Welcome to Trike Talk…..Me’ I prefer the Harley only because it’s a factory built trike….

Hi Jim, :welcome: to Trike Talk

To be fair I would suggest you check out as many trikes as you can before you buy

There are options available on other brands than HD that might interst you, test ride them all

Be sure to have your wife along so she can give you feed back on creature comforts for her as a passenger

The problem up here is that there are only Harley Dealerships within 500 miles so no availability on test riding any other brands. Might make a weekend trip to Washington or Oregon to look there but other then private owners thats our only option.

Pretty much your decision has been made for you, if needing repair or maintenance! Unless your are a mechanic and can work on your bike.

You get a Honda # 1 its water cooled, you don't have to spend thousands trying to cool it down, You dont have to spend thousands trying to make it ride better, Because the Honda will be a kit & more than likely have independent suspension, I'm sure others will chime in & say you buy a Honda with a kit on it you wont have a warranty, Thats yes or no it depends were you buy it, if you buy new from a dealer that trikes it they will warranty it, & I'M not reading to much on here were people are bitching that there Hondas have motor problems, transmission problems, As far as I no there's no tuners, custom air cleaners, cams to upgrade, what you got is what you got, the Honda will be as fast as just about any Harley, there's no were near the accessory's for Honda as there is a Harley. Yes there's a lot more Harley dealers around & that seems to be changing. The Hondas don't need a lot of repairs as long as you maintain them. My Opinion is Harleys are money Pitts. Buy the Harley trike get 1000 page accessory catalog, you got to make it run cooler, make it ride better, make it have more power. with the Honda you don't get the I'm a BAD ASS I own a Harley cool factor. Another bike to look at is a Indian Pursuit water cooled, real nice bike to get triked, motor trike makes a real nice kit for them look on cycle trader there's a few on there. More less like a Gold Wing ride it like it is, lots of power, rides great, heated grips, heated seat, has so much more than a Harley. But Your Not As COOL. But Who Give A Shit ! My Opinion :D:D:D

What ROAD DOG said !

I have owned both and the Goldwing you just ride

The Harley you get to buy electric cooling fans, tank lifts. floorboard extensions, handle bars,

suspension kits, new shocks, wind deflectors ect. ect.

Also HD doesnt stand for Hundred Dollars anymore its 2 Hundred Dollars now a days

Plus the maintenance schedule on the Harley is ridiculous and expensive in comparison

and after you do all that it still isnt as smooth riding nor does it handle or stop as well

If you dont believe me just go look in the WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR TRI_GLIDE TODAY or some of the other threads about Harleys on here

Have many friends that have Harley's and also Goldwings.

I have ridden a few Harley's but never owned one after seeing what my buddies had to do to their Harley's. Not saying there is anything wrong with Harley's but for me, it was a no brainer.

We have had 2 Goldwing Trikes, a 2010 and the one we have now a 2018. Both are CSC and that is the Trike kit we prefer over the other makes and brands.

Try to ride different makes and models to see what you prefer.

I know our 2018 rides and handles way better than our 2010 did. We thought our 2010 rode and handled great. Different technologies can make things better.

Good luck in your search!

Love our 2022 Honda DCT Tour CSC Trike......

The DCT transmission works beautifully especially on a Trike with forward and reverse walking mode.

Nice and smooth and very comfortable for long rides.

Here's our fun and excitement.....

Perhaps it would help is we compare apples to apples.

Starting here - compare a two wheeled GoldWing to a two wheeled Harley. I believe you will find a very similar ride with these units.

The difference is - some are comparing a Wing trike (say CSC conversion) to a Harley TriGlide. When doing this, I will agree - there is no comparison. Instead, consider comparing a Wing CSC conversion to a Harley CSC conversion. In my opinion, I believe you will find an equally nice ride.

I have such a conversion and don't believe the Wing has anything that my Harley doesn't have or that I need.

Plus, contrary to what some believe, I didn't have to buy any of these: The Harley you get to buy electric cooling fans, tank lifts. floorboard extensions, handle bars, suspension kits, new shocks, wind deflectors ect. ect.

My Harley dealer maintains my trike. CSC has a 5-year warranty, and I am pleased with my decision.
