So....
It has been a while since I have had a rodded car. But still a motorhead I suppose.
So I am browsing around and something catches my interest.*

Now I want to build a rat rod for my little girlie.
Bad part is I got the car...
A 61 convertible.*

Now I am looking for a salvage fwd car with a little pep. Like a 4 cyl turbo or a v6. With an automatic trans. Something that runs but is wrecked/totaled.

Anybody else got junk?

All kinds of mechanical *dreams (or nightmares ) are all around me. Not even counting what I do for a living or to improve my shop.

Don't know if I will ever get around to it.
But still keeping an eye out.....waiting on another part of the puzzle to show up.

that looks like FUN... and you've got a great start Snu... Might I suggest a mid to late 90's Bonneville... super charged 3.8L v6 fwd... I would think that'd make a wee bug boogey down the road pretty good... or even an Olds Toronado...

the 60's ones had a pretty beasty 455 v8 in em, and the later models had a 350 v8, all front wheel drive... keep us in the loop sir, even if it isn't a trike, it'll be fun to watch!

Deathbysnusnu, it's a good thing we are 300 miles apart or I think we'd be getting into a lot of trouble. I've had that same dream for a while. I currently have several donor bugs and a 3.8L Dodge fwd setup that used to light up the tires on my old minivan all the way across an intersection. My plan was to built a lowered rat rod pickup cab type body from the bug that wouldn't be any taller than the top of the engine. The transverse engine setup would keep everything short and stubby in the rear while extending the beam or roadster axle in the front.

But all this has to wait until I focus on my front engine trike build. (ADD is a terrible thing.) I'm rebuilding the mid-engine trans setup right now and hope to be able to start a build thread soon. The plan still is Sturgis this year.

For anyone doubting my little girlie would drive around a rat rod......

She already drives, and yes that is a Simpson race suit and a helmet.

Also would like to have one of these.

Or maybe even a kick start only version.*

Anybody here know of "dirt drags"?
300 ft drag race with pickup trucks in the dirt.
Probably a southern thing. It's popularity here is on the rise again. Back in day day I had a friend that raced and I wrenched on the truck quite a bit.
Well there is quite a few parts and pieces laying around the shop and we are talking about building a dirt truck as a shop project.

A full tube chassis quarter miler. Will need lots of work to get it ready for dirt.

And 6-71 and mechanical fuel injection on alcohol stuffed in the cabinet in the electrical shop.

None of this belongs directly to me. Just accumulated at work.
