I've been thinking ever since August that something was wrong with my heated seat because I couldn't get it to go on and just learned today that the Wing's heated seat is tied to a sensor that doesn't let it heat until the ambient temp is 50 or less. Am I the only guy on this site that missed that somehow or is it news to many of you folks.

Actually, what surprises me the most, is that the robot butler didn't come out the trunk to inform you.:qpnmt:

[SUP]I'm still waiting for mine to turn on. Then I found out I didn't have heated seats, grips or anything except a passenger when I do something stupid but that's another topic for another day. :D

What's the saying? I DON"T BELEIVE I"D A TOLD THAT Probably others, but I bet they ain't gonna admit it now. RIDE SAFE

I'm not sure how I ever got listed as a Tour Master. I must have hit the wrong button when I registered. I'm not a Tour Master, just a "Tourer".

I like that, really had a chuckle, thanks for the laugh. Have been down in the dumps lately.

I think you must be the only one. Mine turns on when its 75 degrees out. And the salesman demonstrated the seat and grips to me when I bought it new and the showroom was 72 degrees.

Odd my seat and grips heats up anytime I turn them on??
Now that little lever on the upper left for the vents.............does noting.
Maybe some sensor is set up bassackwards on my bike??
Its all of 63 degrees here this morning.
I might want to use my heat...........

I just went out and checked my '06 Fred. It's 65 degrees in my shop right now and the heated seats and grip did come on once I started the engine. They are linked to the running condition for sure. First I just turned on the ignition switch and watched my volt meter while activating the seat and grip heaters. Nothing happen so I started the engine and they heated right up.

Maybe HONDA changed that function somewhere between '06 and your '12. In preparation for the arrival of my new 2015, I have a new shop manual. The trouble shooting procedure is different with the new Wing so maybe the system operates a little different. I didn't see anything about the 50 degrees though....

Interesting.... Thanks for the response. My tech called me and told me the information was not in the owners manual but was in the tech manual and that is where he found it. I then googled the issue and found a couple of comments from 2009 and 2010 about the same issue and a couple of gentlemen posted that 50 degrees was the cut off.

I'd like to know where they are seeing that information. There might be other useful knowledge there also. Any chance your tech would share that location?

I just called my tech per your request. Sorry for the confusion. He said he was told that by the Honda Techline that is available only to Honda dealers. It was not in the tech manual. Apparently the activation temp has actually been modified over the years since 2006 depending on the year. That is all the details that he had. I'm just glad mine wasn't defective or not working. I rode yesterday at 50 and could feel the seat warm. Tried it today at 65 and it didn't seem to heat. But at 65 who cares. Hope this clarifies what I was told. My tech said the dealer has been getting questions over the years about the heated seats from time to time.

Thanks for clearing that up Fred. I wonder if the tech could get that information for each year and pass it to you for posting. I know a lot of us would love to have it.

The next time I talk with him I'll ask him to ask the next time he talks with the tech line. He might grumble a little, but I've known the guy for 25 years and I think he'll do it. Besides, this tech is one of the best in our area. He has been working on motorcycles for at least 28 years and has probably forgotten more about bikes than most of these techs out here ever learned. I'll let you know if I hear back from him.

Can you ask your tech guy to find out how to make the robot butler come out of the trunk.....mine doesn't seem to want to come out and do anything.:D:laugh:

I'll ask him but I'm going to tell him YOU want to know so he doesn't slap me.....I'll let you know his answer....Lol
