May be sacrilegious.

Ok. Past Harley freak. Now have changed to Goldwing trike. YES it rides better but how can I get the Harley SOUND????

Many have tried, All have failed...... The Harley sound isn't just a sound its a feeling, A 45 Degree feeling...

Just like the muscle cares of the 60's [I had a few]... The sound doesn't come from the tail pipe... Its the lopping engine that makes the music....

A friend did this to another friend a few years ago to achieve just what you are wanting...

He tape recorded a Harley revving its LOUD pipes.

After dark and the bikes had been covered for the night, he stuck the cassette tape in the player of the Gold Wing, set the player tape to ON and turned the volume ALLLL the way up.

When Charles started that Gold Wing the next morning - we all got an ear-full of Harley pipes.

The whole campground got an earful of Harley pipes.

Everyone kept glancing around looking for that Harley until we realized that we had all been had!

I know, it's ok....crazy people have more fun. :D

I found room in the garage for our new to us GW trike and my Harley. The best of both worlds. I like them both. Riding the Natchez Trace next week with my Harley group. Riding the trike to Augusta, Ky with the wife Sunday. Life is good.

First thing harley guys want is noise. Once you've got it you'll be back, askin how 2 gear it higher because it sounds 2 busy on the highway.

Give it up. Ain't gonna happen. Many have tried, very few succeeded. Besides, why try to make a Honda sound like a Harley?

I figured I would hear that though I did have a Yamaha road star that came close to the sound. In fact if I remember right HD actually sued Yamaha over "sound enfringment". HDlost in court.

That feeling is what I miss the most. My Harleys have always had a rejuvenating effect on me. Anytime I was feeling a little bad, I would go for a short ride and it would make me feel better. You might say I rode Harleys for medicinal purposes. That tone was so soothing to me and it kept me feeling youthful. I can't knock any one's ride, cause it's just what you get used to. I now ride a GW trike, because my bride loves it.

Happy wife, happy life. But I sure miss the roar of my Harley.

:gah:

How bout disconnecting 4 plugs and put on loud pipes. You could vary the sound by which plugs you disconnect. This should also give you the vibration.

I had a Spyder and it did cost me about 15 grand... But i did manage to make it sound actually like a Harley, Right down to the rumble and vibrations..ThumbUp

Just do a cheap fix, record the engine at varied rpms and play at is you roll along, as for vibration take the wheel weights off the back wheels and you'll get a strange vibration. :xszpv:

There just isn't any prettier music than the pipes on a Harley single cam engine, and the double cam just cannot imitate it. Gotta love that loping heartbeat!

:Coffee: Eat your hearts out!

One of each

The only way I know is to have one of each! They can't be combined! Then you chose which one to ride for the day. Always the Wing for long road trips for me!

The Harley sound and vibe is very unique.
First off, one must realize that a Harley is the most efficient machine in existence for converting liquid gasoline into pure noise and doing it with the least amount of horsepower. With that said, a Wing just can't be that "efficient"

You will never get a Harley sound out of a Gold Wing, why would you want to? If you want the Harley sound on a trike buy a Tri Glide.

:Agree: .. When i had a Spyder, And was on a Spyder forum, That question came up quite often.
Mostly from Newbies, that want to sound like motorcyclists...Rumbling down the block..;)
I think Moto-Guzzi, And some Ducati's sound great, But nobody asks how do i make my bike sound like one... Guess Harley is doing something right....;)
