Hey All!
Purchased a Tri-Glide and need to get it home (can't ride it too much snow and ice yet) - I have the use of a trailer but no ramp. I've been looking around for a ramp that will work and am having a heck of a time finding something. I'm not all that interested in spending $500-$600 for a ramp that I'll only use maybe once or twice a year at the most.
Closest thing I've found is at Fleet Farm "Better Built Aluminum Extended Bi-Fold Ramp" (82x48) w/1800 capacity. BUT, the Tri-Glide is wider than the ramp!
So - anyone have a clue as to what I can purchase that's gonna work and not break the bank (the price of the TG and my accessories is enuff already!).
HELP!!
Thanks much!
Greg

I would go to U haul and rent a trailer with a ramp big enough for the trike.
How far are you hauling?

I have a set of ramps made from 8ft 2x12's with a set of Northern Tools ramp kits on one end as well as an 8ft set of folding aluminum ramps. Both work fine as ramps.

Check prices on 2x6s and 2x8s at your local lumber dealer. An 8ft 2x8 is probably abound $10 bucks. $30 bucks get you the 3 you need. I ain't elegant, but it will let you load your new toy easily.

When you unload, have someone stand on the end of the board so you tire doesn't shove it off the trailer bed.

Good Luck.

As for the ramps slipping off the trailer when ya back off, drill a 1/4 hole in the end and the trailer frame and drop a 1/4 bolt thru it.Doesn't have to be tight just keeps the ramp from moving.

eventually buy a car dolly (usually doesn't have to br lecense plated, & modify it
to hold your t/g.here's what a guy made. & it looks great.

You have to have license on these in Ohio. If the wheels of the vehicle being towed aren’t touching the road, plates are required.

I bought a set of steel ramps from Tractor Supply that fold up for like $60.00 a piece. Never loaded a trike with them but have used them on a really big atv and they did good. I'm sure they would hold more then a 2x6.

Check with local golf course.....I've seen some with dirt mount for loading golf carts for those that don't have a ramp on their golf cart trailers. And, definitely the HD dealer, if that's where you bought your TG.

A buddy of mine is a welder and we decided to build a ramp - we're gonna make it about 58" wide and 5' or 6' long. It'll be kinda heavy but it'll work on the trailer and then we'll have something for any future use. The iron and such will probably cost in the neighborhood of $100-$150 and the labor is only a couple cases of beer!
Thanks again everyone!

I'd find a new welder if it's going to require two cases of beer. Flat rate should be about one case but if you are going to help two could be closer ! ! !

When I had to trailer just the trike I had a snowmobile trailer. The one I had was just wide and long enough for the trike, and the bed tilted so I could drive the trike up on to the trailer. No ramp needed.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Yeah - it's weld, drink, weld, drink, weld, drink, weld, drink, rest, drink two, weld, drink..........
Might be 3 cases (lol)

I have a 10' enclosed trailer with ramp back door, still have to put 2x10 about 30" long on ground so mufflers don't hit ground. Looking into making ramp from diamond plate with hinge so just got to flip down and drive on or off. The TG has about 6" clearance all the way around then tie down with straps.

What do you have for pressure in the shocks, & do you have either Kevin's or Dennis's lift kit on ?:Trike1:

Tanker..They only made em in Canada for a few years..Place was called metro Trailer sales in Winnipeg Manitoba..Mine is a 2005 6ft x 10ft, 2500 load capacity....Iv seen other companys like possibly the one listed above that are doin the same thing...
I think 10yrs ago, they weren't popular @ $2800.00 cdn, so Metro quit making em..
Im gonna look at the link Freebird posted and see if its similar..HaNkB

freebird..that trailer is very similar in design, but The part I don't care for in the video is the unhooking and rehooking it back up and banging around on vehicle bumper etc..
Mine pivots in another spot to elimainate all the unhooking and banging around...
I do like the winch idea pulling directly in the center tho, as Mine is off to one side with pullys and a cable going across...Either way, both are a super way to load and unload by yerself..At this time it appears Razor doesn't do a trike capacity trailer, but im gonna email him and show him mine.....HanKb

There used to be a dealer in Texas that made regular motorcycle trailers that loaded flat. The co. name was EZ-Haul trailers They made a single or two rail trailer. I have a single rail trailer that I made that loads flat. You don't have to disconnect from your tow vehicle to load or unload. do some preplanning and one person can load or unload a bike.

Very Nice Sloufoot
...Im very happy with my Metro as I load a lot of bikes steadily and with it I never require help from anyone...Twas a great investment, and if I ever gotta haul the TriGlide I no I can safely and damage free...HaNkB
