Light weight helmet

I tried on a carbon fiber Vega STX half helmet at Rolling Thunder last month. Very lightweight and fit me perfectly. It is EXTREMELY difficult for me to find a helmet that fits. It's DOT approved and well priced, $79.95 if I remember right. I ended up with a new conventional Vega STX helmet from J&M Electronics because I could get it with a new headset already installed. It's pretty lightweight, too.

A good old friend of mine showed up the other day wearing this. He has been riding for a good 40 years and probably has a million miles on him. Living 40-50 miles from work, he rides every day except in snow and heavy storms, but have seen him do it. This helmet believe it or not meets Tennessee law. The ventilation holes meet the requirements (but I feel that he is pushing the limit on that) and it has a safety sticker inside that meets the law...go figure. He carries a copy of the law with thim at all times. Plus, he used to be very active in ABATE of TN to change the helmet law.

If all you want is a nice light helmet that is DOT approved check out leatherup.com.

Get mine for 49 bucks so I bought two. Matte black with vents and visor shade.

If you see anything reasonable in a lighter 1/2 or even 3/4 in a 3X please let me know. I'm down to 2 old HJCs but they no longer make a 3X.

Yeah, my melon really does look like a melon-watermelon that is.

Thats where I bought two helmets from. I forget the model but they are Outlaw brand DOT approved with drop down sunshade. I like the sunshade, not so much for the sun, but for the rain. It is nice if you make a turn right into the sun, you can just pull it down quickly. Mine is gloss black, and the wifes has a design on it.

I was wearing an HJC I bought in 1994. But my water bucket head out grew the helmet, plus, the insides was starting to break down. I had forgot I had a solid white one in a box from about 6-7 years ago I never wore. Its my new helmet now one size larger. I do love the larger visor, keeps the sun off my face.

Seer is the helmet the the motorcycle police wear. When I researched the subject I found Seer to be the lightest and one of the best ones out there.
Good luck

We both wear the Harley Hybrid 1/2 helmets, weight is around 1lb 6oz, so they are light and comfortable. Price is not bad around $200
