Lift for 2022 Triglide and 14" shocks

Has anyone installed 14" shocks and lift kit on 21 and newer Triglide , and found the catalytic converter hits the swingarm if you try to get it higher than stock. Super Shox sells a modified exhaust pipe from the cat to the muffler which allows more clearance. Has anyone installed this part and does it increase clearance for this purpose?

For 2017 & newer trikes, I believe their modified crossover pipe is designed for 13” shocks (with lift kit bracket)…. OR if you choose 14”-14.5” shocks (no lift brackets).

You do not want a 14”-14.5” shock added to a “lift kit bracket”. You will already be at your maximum height and no one recommends combining the two.

Now… with that said, @DK Custom Products does make a set of brackets designed JUST for 14” tall shocks. These “convertible comfort brackets” do not add lift, but instead kick the shock back just a little more angle, which the end result helps add slightly better ride quality due to the added angle of the shock. Again, it does not add lift… just angle.

Hopefully Kevin can add some info and if any experience with their shocks and also the necessity and fitment of this modified pipe …. and what they recommend with their shocks.

Getting back on the modified exhaust from Super Shox… again, it is NOT designed to be used with the combination of 14”-14.5” shocks and a lift bracket due to clearance issues, which they state that in the product description.

EDIT: Many others on here (and other groups) have newer Trikes and added 14” shocks without the need of this pipe.
Not sure why there is an inconsistency as the need for this modified pipe. ????
Hopefully others can chime in and help with their experience with this.

Hope the info helps & hopefully others can chime in with any additional knowledge or experience.

I have transferred the 14” Pro Action shocks and the comfort lift bracket from my 14 TG to my 21 TG and i have no parts touching anything.
+1 I have no problems with 14" Pro Action and comfort lift bracket as well on my 20 TG

I edited my above response, because you are correct… many add 14” shocks on the newer ones without issue.
Not sure why some may be affected and some not?
Also… are your brackets the “lift” brackets?
Or are they the “convertible comfort” brackets?

The shocks are 14" NexGen with the comfort lift brackets. When mounting them I needed to push up on the bottom shock mount to get bolt holes lined up. This was with the lowest lift mounting holes used. In looking at the cat pipe and swingarm it appears to be touching. The preload is adjusted giving me a good 1" sag and the ride is very comfortable. My concern is could this cause damage to the exhaust system if the contact is extreme. I know the instructions state not to lift the bottom of the shock to align the holes, but it would not align without a 1/4 push upward. It seams the contact may limit the added travel of the shocks?

You should not use “lift brackets” with a 14” shock.
Now if you have a “convertible comfort bracket” you should be fine.

You may want to double check those brackets to make sure you accident did not get actual “Lift” brackets. I assume you bought them from @DK Custom Products ?
You may want to double check your purchase to make sure you got the correct brackets or contact their customer service team.

Yes they are the comfort lift brackets and I did contact DK's customer service number. The representative was very interested in my inquiry and stated that it may have been better to use the 13" shocks for the newer models. I chose to go with more travel to achieve a softer ride. I did supply them with my info when purchasing them. My issue is a concern that I won't add strain to the exhaust system being it is so close. I tested rode the trike on some rough roads and did not hear any metal to metal noise so I'm somewhat convinced it's OK. The question I have is the notation in the installation instructions stating (do not lift the bottom of the shocks to align the mounting holes.) Because that was the only way to install them, it led me to believe there was an alternative or something I missed. I have no complaints with the ride quality or the quality of the products or DK's customer service, just questioning whether anyone has had the same issue.

I’m not sure if many on here have the combo of 14” shocks with “Lift” brackets.

Unless I’m missing something, even on their website they advertise the “Convertible comfort LIFT” with use of 13” shocks.

Then they have a “Convertible comfort MOUNT” for when using 14” shocks.

Hopefully others will chime in or maybe Kevin from @DK Custom Products can respond in your situation.

In personally have 14” shocks and really pleased with the ride too, but was curious to see if I can “squeeze any more” since they make the “convertible comfort MOUNT” brackets just for 14” shocks.

I have a thread started just on this subject and I’ll be reporting back in the near future.

I purchased those brackets and the only difference is not height, but actually the shock will just kick back a little (as far as they engineered to fit without obstructing/hitting) and it’s only 3/4”. (Which that angle should actually help - how much??? … that is the question)

That’s the reason I made that thread. Stay tuned on that ….. when I have a chance to get them installed and I may even do a quick video on my final result and my thoughts.

Here’s pics of those brackets compared to stock OE brackets:

Now… this is where I personally do not know the differences are, and as listed on the site:

I have a 2014…. You said you have a 2021, so that’s where I don’t know the differences???

If I recall correctly, the bottom OE shock bracket is the same unchanged part number from Harley.

So hopefully others can indeed chime in to see if they have a similar experience or situation.

Glad to hear you don’t hear any hitting even though it’s close. Keep us posted in the future if anything changes on your end too. 👍🏻👍🏻

Was told by Kevin that the 13 or 14 shocks have the same amount of travel.
I believe you are correct… the NexGen 13” and 14” shocks Both have 4” of travel if I recall.

I think that’s why their 13” shocks purchased along with their convertible comfort Lift brackets is so popular.

That bracket will give an additional 1”-1.5” of lift, but also kicks it back a little to give the maximum height and better angle for the best maximum ride. The travel is still 4” regardless the shock height choice.
