Large cell phone issue

I have a question to ask the collective and hopefully, someone will have already tackled this issue.

I have a Samsung Note 5. Its not huge, but it large and when I put it in the cell phone cradle, it appears to be too long to attach a power cord to the USB port and still be able to shut the door.

I have been looking for a 45 degree power cord but haven't found one. And even if I do, I don't think there is enough room to put the phone in and shut the door.

Anyone have a similar problem?

I had a power point installed in my tour pak and plug my cell phone in there. You can pair your phone via Bluetooth to the Infotainment Center but you will need to have a wired head set to use it. I personally use a Sena 20S to use my cell phone.

There's a button on the right side of my phone. When I am getting ready to ride, I hold that button down for a couple seconds....and the phone stops working. I throw that "Intrusion" in that big box behind the passenger seat. I take it out when we stop for lunch....then repeat the process until dinner. I call it "Screw the Phone" time.....works for me...lol

Completely agree!! Seeing the sights, smelling the smells is enough distractions, don't need a cell phone when I'm riding

My cell phone goes in my pants pocket can't hear it there, When i get to where i'm going then maybe? i'll look at it....Maybe...I can't think of one reason why i need to look at a phone while i'm riding .. I mean all i hear from bikers is some jerk just cut me off, and they were on a cell phone.... So i don't want to become one...[Opps left myslef open on that one]

Just to add if you have a cell phone with you in case of an emergency 'Then it should be on your person not on the bike...Sometimes you can get separated from the bike.

I don't need my cell phone on while riding either. It goes in the windshield bag or else in the inside pocket of the jacket while we are riding. When we stop for gas, lunch or the day then I check it. As also mentioned we have enough distracted drivers out there and I certainly don't want to be added to the list.

It's about the ride, not the phone.

With my 84 year old mother's health being fragile, I check my phone at every fill up. Other than that...nope..no Bluetooth on the Trike.

ha ha ha. I feel the same way about cell phones and Motorcycles. It goes in the tour pac till we stop some place then I check it. We were in Daytona yrs ago for bike week. Well there's ton's of COPS around the biker Bars at that time of the yrs. WE left the Iron Horse Bar and walked over to another place when we heard some cop yelling at some guy on a bike at the rd light. So we walked over a bit closer to see what all the noise was. Some jerk was at a light ( STOPPED) but on his cell phone. This cop was telling him him he was a menace to society and he should get off the bike when on his phone. Then 4 other cops walked up and made the guy shut off his bike and walk it over their little spot where they were all stationed :D. Still yellin at him and just giving him a hard time. Everyone was laughing even the other cops. ThumbUp:D:D:D

If you absolutely HAVE to be aware of calls (I do sometimes) make sure it is on vibrate and put it in your shirt or upper jacket pocket. You will feel when it rings, then stop and answer it, without endangering yourself or others around you. Enough going on when you are riding that needs more attention than a cell phone.

just my .02

I surely can understand issues like that. But that is the nice thing about the newer Boom Box apps. You can bluetooth the phone as already stated, but see who's calling without having to answer. If it's a call you need, ya pull over and make that call.

I use my phone only for music while on the road. Like somebody else said, Bluetooth works for that. I put mine in the trunk, as its an iphone 6 plus which is too big for the designated phone area or the windshield pouches.

My issue is that I can get my phone in but I can't put it on the USB cord as the cord then makes it too long and I can't shut the door.

But the Bluetooth connectivity makes all of this less of an issue because it doesn't matter where the phone is as long as it is within range of the Boom Box.

I was hoping someone had a similar issue and was able to make a work around.

:Agree: 100%, I operate my phone exactly the same way!! Don't want to talk with ANYONE while riding!!

Sorry, but even my iPhone 5c will not fit there plugged in. As I said, I keep it in my pocket, BUT...
that area is large enough to store both my flash drive with 600 songs and my garage door remote. The remote fits perfectly into the groove in the foam, with the big button up and in easy rech as soon as the door is opened.

I know this doesn't provide an answer to your original post, but this is how I utilized the space when I found that I couldn't keep my phone there and plugged in (or even NOT plugged in). I don't even keep it linked to the Infotainment system anymore, I just feel it ring/vibrate, then pull over and check it.

Yeah - We got side tracked {beginning with me, sorry} I have a couple of TomTom GPS units that have 90 degree plugs.....not sure if they are much shorter than the normal. But that said, the Apple phones don't play nice with any other cords but their own. I think the fix may be to put the power point in the trunk. I installed mine in about 10 minutes, so you can too. Bluetooth to see who's calling etc. etc.

Talk about Deja Vu! That is exactly what I do.

I have a phone holder that mounts on the handlebars and I am planning to put in a USB adapter in the cigarette lighter port on the faring.

My biggest issue is that I can't tell who is calling me over the bluetooth connect but when the phone is plugged into the USB port, it downloads the phone book and you can. I am not complaining, but I wish HD had done a better job on making this all work with a phone plugged into the boom box and another port for your thumb drive to hear all your favorite tunes.

I don't know what Harley was thinking when they put the USB port/wire INSIDE the glove box, but the design makes it useless as a place to store AND charge you phone. The foam wrap is nice to keep the phone secure and from getting scratched inside the glove box, but IMO the USB wire/port is more of a hindrance than it is a convenience. So I ride with my phone in a pocket or in the Tour Pac. If I need to charge the phone while riding I use a USB adapter to plug into the 12V power port that I installed in the Tour Pac, and let the Bluetooth do its job to notify me when I have an incoming call.

I am thinking about switching to Dakota Digital gauges, and when/if I do I will try to remove the USB wire/port INSIDE the glove box while I have the fairing off so that I can actually use the glove box for...gloves, glasses, my wallet or whatever else I might need to store in there without the USB port/wire being in the way.

Cell phone in the Tourpak just in case of Emergency or need to call AAA road service.

I don't know if you found your solution yet, but this may be what you are looking for: http://www.amazon.com/EZOPower-Extr...-7&keywords=accessories+note+5+charging+short Disclaimer: I don't know much about Samsung phones, so I am not sure this is the correct gizmo for your application. Regards.
