Kuryakyn Clamshell grip covers

I recently added to my trike a set of Hondaline heated grips. I like the warmth, but do not like the looks or the feel of the new grips.



I see that Kuryakyn makes a clamshell cover which will add bulk to the grips and give the quality look to the grips I had before installing the heated grips.



Kury's ad and comments by sellers on ebay say most or all of the heat of the grips are transmitted through the clamshell to the hands.



Anyone installed the clamshells and have comments good or bad.

I installed the Kury clamshells on my 08 with factory heated grips. They work good, just took a little getting use to the larger size.

Quite simply, added bulk/thickness is insulation from the heated grips and defeats their purpose. I had a set on my 2009 and on a cold trip to Michigan/Lake Superior after a couple of days of cold hands took them off and threw them in the trash..just my experience :gah:

Just buy gebing heated clothing and gloves and you will not have to worry about it.!

I have the clamshells and they greatly reduce the heat from the heated grips. I also agree that there just is nothing as good as heated gloves and other heated clothing. I wouldn't be without heated gloves and jacket liner......I use Gerbing and really like their quality.

Just get Heat Trollers. Have used 'em on sport tourers & the Wing. Work like a charm. Unfortunately, NOT cheap.

They are a pain to install, and signigicantly decrease the heat from the grips. Look nice though, and feel good, but don't perform as advertised. The next time I see you I'll show you what I mean.
