Kit damaged in shipping

I bought a used Frankenstein kit here and the guy did what I think was a good job packing it. Anyway, it looked like UPS drove over the boxes with the truck; the fenders need glass work, the brackets need powdercoat, and the swingarm needs powdercoat. That's the easy damage, the axle also got a few dings to prevent reassembly without some new parts or careful work with a grinder. I budgeted for paint and installation which will cover the repairs, it just sucks that UPS does not honor its insurance.

Long story short the boxes were insured for the purchase price and UPS denied the claim for improper packing. The moral of the story is, if you ever want to ship something valueable UPS has to pack it for the insurance to cover. You need pictures of every item in the proper UPS approved packing in the box prior to shipping to support any claim. Ups inspecting an item packed by owner and saying it is packed appropriately means nothing. A ups store or third party does not always pack to UPS standards, thus claims will be denied. As I read through the horror stories on the interweb about UPS it is fairly clear all claims are denied.

I can't say enough good things about the Frankenstein guys helping me suggest how to try a repair and figure out what I needed and selling me miscellaneous parts.

UPS I do not have anything good to say. Here is what was sent:

Here is what I received:

That sucks. I would take the pictures you have of the received boxes and I would send them to the UPS corporate offices. Bad packing on the inside would not cause that kind of damage.

With any luck you might reach someone high enough that they could help. Hope you get your kit usable. Good luck.

X 2 on the refuse. But will not work if they just got dropped at the door. Small claims court might be the alternate.

Too late to refuse,I plan to appeal the claim an go to the BBB. They game small claims court too, no-show the hearing then appeal when lawyers can represent. It amazez me how many uos complaints are out there.

Its all fixable just crappy.

Shame on them, I sometimes think they do this type of damage on purpose because their unhappy with handling a heavy package. Some of the big ticket items I've shipped I take to the UPS store and pay the extra money for them to ship it, this way they can't excuse it.

lesson learned !!if you asked the deliver to note the damage to the boxes when he delivered them, i'm sure he would have gladly said ok but that depends if you are home at the time of delivery.

. this happened to me when my brother hand made a clock.& shipped it by UPS. outside of the box was kinda dent, but inside the clock was crushed.

hope they make it right.\

thats why i just went to miami dade county, to pick-up a new 103 eng that gorilla had taken out of his 2013 t/g. & wanted to sell the 103.so the dealer could install a 110 eng.

Keep fighting UPS, 80% stop after first no, 20% keep going up the latter in complaints. Good luck to you and btw hope you enjoy your tirke

UPS is the LAST shipper I will use ! I go to everyone else first ! I have had the best luck with FedX. Things ruined by the rain when thrown over the fence because the driver is too lazy to roll open a driveway gate that is unlocked & then arguing with some little BI#@h that has more excuses than a dictionary ! Yep... that's UPS !!
They went to crap when their stock went public !
