Been bugging me for a while but I don't think the rear shocks used by Panther are up to the job. I sat on trike today before going for a ride and I can rock the trike side to side fairly easily. They are not exactly 'substantial' and cannot quite see the makers name on them. Given the Revenue Weight of around 500kgs it may be the next job to tackle. They are the standard 14" shocks and look like the type used on a 250cc road bike.

All 4 are on maximum adjustment and when '2 up' probably fully compressed but when solo the road camber does have a greater influence. Progressive may be the solution but quite costly to replace all 4. On most major 'A' Roads the ride is ok but bends & traffic islands show a weakness when the weight is transfered to one side. The original rear Air Shock & Pump were removed at conversion. What set up does anyone have for GL1500SE

Side to side could be remedied with a small dia sway bar.The Champion straight axle I had used 2 Progressive air over spring shocks with the original air cyl in the middle hooked to the compressor.A decent set of regular coil overs would work fine im sure.

Thanks Marc, I think the same that a better quality coil overs should remedy, maybe off a 600cc road bike or similar. Getting it right first time is critical, too hard, too soft and money wasted.

Have discovered a temporary solution.
The rear tyres were set at 22psi which I now consider ok for 'Rider Only' plus low pressure put's more emphasis on the shocks. I increased to 26psi for 2 up riding and I can notice an improvement albeit not perfect. The original shocks are YSS Suspension with 5mm diameter springs so rather than change the whole shocks I will upgrade to 8mm, possibly 10mm, over the winter period.
