Intro from another future trike owner

Greetings,
I am not currently an owner and while I've gave passing thought to having my '78 Harley Lowrider converted into a Champion trike, I'm really leaning more towards having a rear engined trike. I hope to learn on how some of you others have built your own rides and do something similar. Since I'm currently building a hot rod/show truck, my trike may take a year or two to make it onto the asphalt!

Thanks and many blessings to you all,
Larry

Hi Larry, this forum is so full of information. There are lots of guys built or are building their rides. Me, I'm in Nashville and ride a 12 TG. Trike people are a different breed, friendly! Karen

Try visiting the " VW trike section". Or the " HOME BUILT " section . They can give you the answers you are looking for.

Wow, I hadn't thought of anything that extreme! I'm not sure how you'd keep the front end down. Right now, I have a 2.3 L Ford 4 cylinder motor and auto transmission out of a '84 Tempo that was free. Stock hp is 84 and that is with the single barrel carb. I figure I could do a little motor work and go to a Weber downdraft carb, cam and a free flowing exhaust and it should be a handful, mounted motor before axle. Mid-engined I guess you'd say. But a V8, wow! How about a 455 Olds Toronado and it's Hydramatic transaxle! It'd take a heck of a frame and front end, but wouldn't that be something! I'm betting it's already been done before though. It could be scary, very scary!

Gettin out of bed in the morning is scary...so don't let that hold you back! I know a guy that has a Boss Hoss with a 455 in it, the weight of the motor and rider seem to hold it down. I imagine if he drag raced it, the back end would be squirrley as hell:AGGHH:.

Welcome to Trike Talk from Southeast Missouri, I'm sure you can find something here that will spark your interest from VW's to Boss Hoggs you will see a little of everything on this site.

Let the game begin! I just picked up the front end of a '86 Honda GL1200 Goldwing Aspencade; forks, steering neck, fairing and title that I'm going to build off of.
Maybe by this time next year I'll be triking like there's no tomorrow!

Welcome to the website from the U P of Michigan. Hopefully you can find the information you need to to get your trike on the road. Many different types lurking here so I am sure given the right direction someone will chime in.Good luck.

How hilarious!

I can't believe it was nine years ago when I was here last, and trikeless at that.

Well, maybe four years ago, i picked up a nice, fiberglass bodied VW trike that I've had fun with.

Hopefully I can learn how to post pictures of it.

I need to start a build thread of another trike I've started, so I need to learn how to do all of that.

The trike I'll be building, and not buying, like the one I have now, I'm calling an Adventure trike, along the genre of Adventure Motorcycles.

Go to YouTube and look up Black Bear Pass. I want to be the first one to do that on a trike.

Anyhow, I'm trying to take pictures of everything because this build will be an adventure!

Blessings all,

Larry
