Hey guys.. just got my first trike. Very excited! Lots of work to do as it was someone elses unfinished project. I dont mind the challenge and know it will be worth it.

Question.. how do i know what year my tranny is??? i need to buy a complete shifter assembly.

Hi, guys - I just got back on line within the past hour. Tornadoes here in Harvest & Huntsville, AL areas wiped out our services for the past week. Total devastation a block south of me and a block north of me, but we only lost some shingles and a couple of small trees (so we're blessed). Tornadoes wiped out a 1 to 2 mile wide swath (houses completed gone from foundations) thru here.

As to shifter versus year - doesn't matter what year, all the four-speed shifter mechanisms were common for all the aircooled VW's. If you just want to know what year you have you can post the tranny # (on the side of the tranny - location may vary by year) and someone can surely look it up online). You can get a shifter mechanism out of any old air-cooled VW or from a buggy shop.
