Installing new shocks with lift kit

I'm thinking of buying new progressive 416 shocks for my 2011 ride. After downloading the installation instructions I see where it says they should not be used with a lift kit installed. I installed the lift kit a few years ago and was wondering if anyone knows what the problem would be.

I have them on mine no problem. Put them on last year before riding to sturgis.
