Insta Tow for Trike

That would be allriight for emergencies but I think it would be tough on paint. I did something similar when my bike tossed a cam chain. Took the ball off tied the front wheel to the hitch and bumper. Stuck to the pennsylvania backroads made it about ten miles like that. Sorta kept waitin for it to shoot off into the woods.

I saw this in one of the local Motorcycle mags. What do you think about this way to tow your Trike ?? Sells for $300. click on the link below.

If you are considering purchasing a motorcycle...

Aside from the strain on the forks, the hitch weight issue, the lack of lower end lubrication due to engine not running; I can't see why not.

Seriously, all those things are factors but if I had one and it was the only choice to get my trike to safety I'd take it very slow. Especially on acceleration, forks are not designed to do what would be asked of them. Mounting on a Class III or better hitch would take care of the weight issue and going slow might reduce the oiling effects some. JMHO.. :xszpv::xszpv:

In my younger and carefree days, Maybe.. Now though i can't see myself towing a 30 Thousand plus Trike with my trucks tow hitch like a piece of lawn equipment..
But for some if their towing short dissidents on a regular bases it might work out for them..

I know this is an old thread, but its about the only place i could find to ask this.

Whats every ones opinion on a hitch set up like this to tow a VW trike? It seems to me that it would put a lot of added stress to the forks and neck but im new to this stuff and could be completely wrong. would it make any difference if it were a chopper style trike that is raked out a little bit?

I can't put my finger on it, but this sets off negative bells and whistles for me. Spinning the drive pulley out of the transmissions without the rest of the transmission slopping oil around just makes me uncomfortable.

I'm not sure about vw's but I know most vehicle with a manual trans. leaving them in neutral while towing is fine because the main drive spinning moves the oil to keep it cool and lubricated. Like I said though im not sure about the vw's trans.
