A few weeks back, a person came on the newsgroup and stated that he was buying a used Harley Triglide, but the seat needed some repair. I had a like new seat that I had taken off my trike and had no further use for so I told him that I would let him have if for what he thought it was worth and pay me for shipping it to him. He sent me his address and I mailed the seat to him at a cost of $55.00 for shipping thru the USPS. That was in early November and it was supposed to be delivered the 12th of November. I sent him an E-Mail stating the arrival date and cost of shipping along with my address and told him to pay me with a postal money order. A couple days later he sent me an E-Mail asking if a money order would be good, that he was getting paid that Friday and I stated that would be fine. That is the last that I have heard from him and I have not seen anything from him on the newsgroup since then. So I guess what I'm saying is be careful of whom you trust.

Its sad what the world has come to. Years ago you could leave all your stuff with your bike for the day at a rally, and it would be there when you got back. Now if its not locked up it will be gone... About 12 years ago, on another group, I met a couple that lived out by Rapid city. We met up with some from the group at their house during the Sturgis rally... Nobody really knew anyone, yet nothing was missing in the morning after the party. The next year we were going out to the Buffalo Roundup in Custer park, when they found out we were coming out they asked if we would pick up a stock trailer on the way out. We took it out for the price of gas and they took us out to supper...

It saved them a round trip and a overnight stay on the way... That's how old school bikers do things... Not how the riders do now....

To bad you ran into someone that has no respect for themselves and their word....

DO YOU HAVE THIS PERSON'S NAME? maybe if you broadcast it over this TT.com ,he may wise up and send you the money owe's u

Possibly something has happened to TruckerKevin - a heart attack?, wreck? - which has incapacitated him.

As suggested, since you have his contact info - perhaps you could send a request for payment via registered mail? That way you would know WHO signed for the mail and that they would be aware of the situation. Sure, the registered mail cost would be throwing good money after possibly bad but at least you might find out SOME-thing....it might at least get someone’s attention.

Oftentimes other members of the household/family have no clue as to what an individual’s activity on the internet has been or how to access it, or what dealings they were involved in until someone brings it to their attention....if something drastic has happened it would probably be the furthest thing from their minds to check at the moment.

Yes it was on TrikeTalk. I will not publish his Name. I will hesitate to send out anything else in the future. I guess it is the cost of trying to be helpful.

I don't like to think ill of someone but maybe that is exactly what has happen, he's become deathly ill.

When I deal with someone on forums when money is involved, I like to see several of their posts so I

can get an idea of what this person is like. If they are just a lurker and almost no posts, my red flags

go up. But I also deal strictly with PayPal. It not only protects me but them as well. So far with the few

items I've sold, everything has gone smooth. But I still worry. Something could happen to the package

and I'd have to go through more hassles to get the shipper to pay for the damage they created. But

the proof it was damaged would be on the receiving party. I'd want photos showing the damaged

package and then the damage to the contents. Common sense stuff that anyone would want and could

supply. But I still worry every darn time for reasons just like this. In this case I do hope there is a

honest reason for lack of communication. Communication, the key to everything. Hope it all works out.
