Went to the local dealer today hoping to get a test ride on a 15 trike they had in stock. Well I got the ride and it was great. It seemed much more powerful and easier to shift than mine. I liked the gear notification in the speedometer and the infotainment window. The clutch was way easier to grab than mine. Overall it was a very pleasant experience so much so I agreed to buy it.

I was offered 2K more than what they wanted to pay on my trike which was what I asked for. The price of the new one was discounted 2K. So far we are heading to the finish line. The dealer wouldn't budge off the setup or delivery charge and also the document fee.

I wanted new handlebars like what I have on this trike and got a good price for them to be installed.

I objected to not having credit life insurance and the price of what they did offer. I know my Credit Union has a far better priced insurance than what I was offered today.

I told them I wasn't signing the final paper until I spoke with the credit union and found out what their cost was.

So that is where I am at. Bike is there and ready to have the handlebars installed. I am here rethinking the whole process. I left a deposit to hold the bike until I return. I'm not concerned about the deposit one way or the other it will be returned to me.

What is on my mind are the fees and that I am resistant to want to pay them.

Did I mention the color of the trike is that really nice white and blue like Fuzzy's?

Doc fees I can live with as it is registration and title fees, st least in my state. I have always refused to pay delivery and set up fees on a new vehicle. I always figured they cannot sell it if it isn't on the floor ready to go. Their cost not mine. It has always worked for me. YMMV! Ultimately it comes down to a deal you are happy with. Good luck and keep us posted. By the way mine is blue and white too.

I think the dealers standard answer is because we lowered our price and gave you more than we would normally we can't afford to give up these charges on top of that. I hit the dealer with the amount they were making profit on these trikes.

Of course he denied that they make very much on them. What a line.

If I have to I am prepared to give up this deal and just wait for the new ones to arrive. I hope it doesn't come to that. I am not attached to the trike or emotional about buying it.

I was told that this year trike are getting rare to get. I told his yes but new ones are on the horizon. Then he said your trade won't be worth as much when the new ones do arrive. I replied neither will this trike just sitting here.

It is a game, either they wear you down or they recognize that you won't be worn down.

I have an end point and when I get to it I just walk.

its your money. You determine your bottom line. If the dealer can't get there and you can't move then walking is appropriate.

I played the game for three days, twice I walked away and they called me back. After I got a deal I liked and then went for Free add ons to close the deal. It was killin them, but in the end I won. Most add ons have a 100% mark up from the dealer, so theres some room to work with.

Stay firm and good luck. ThumbUp

If credit life is the only thing holding you up, you might check with you insurance agent for a term life policy in the amount of the loan. Last truck I bought, this was cheaper than what the credit company offered, and would have paid off directly to the wife. She could have taken the $ and run. :)

I saw your picture on the wall at Charlie's the other day. Good looking scoot!

A friend of mine is uncle to a part owner of a Harley shop in central Ky (about a three hour ride away). When asked, he said the lowest they will ever go is cost plus 2%, and they will only do that 3 or 4 times a year.

I'm betting other dealers work the same way. Pretty much it's who you know.

I could've got that deal instead of what I got on mine at my local dealership. I chose to pay a little more and get the local service contract, because I ride a lot of miles and will save the money in the maitenance services over the course of the next 3 years.

Back in my car business days I used to sell credit life and disability insurance on installment loan contracts. It was a very profitable part of our business. As stated above, there are certainly less expensive insurance options than going through the dealer.

As you might have noticed in my avatar I have a new trike. After 2 days of negotiating I got a better price and signed the contract this morning. I won't actually have the trike for a week as I asked for new handlebars to be installed. The 2+2 like I have on the old trike. Once they get the bars on they will measure accurately the length I need for the new cables.

The weather doesn't look too good for the next week so it is all good. The wife saw the trike for the first time this morning and sat on it. She liked the fact HD Had moved back the tourpac and she had a little more room. I got the 3 year extended plan in the purchase so anything that happens is covered until 2020.

I am glad it is all over I hate this process.

Nice Color Congrats

New rides are always a great thing congrats. ride safely Fearless:clapping:

Congrats! I went thru that process two weeks ago. Nightmare.
Question. The 2x2 bars you got is that because the stick bars gave you pain? I recently have developed some pain in my upper back/neck. I'm wondering if this is because of my bars not sitting right. What's your take? I'm going to put out on forum as well. Also. What is the cost quoted for new bars by the dealer ?

Thanks andd congrats again :pepper:

When I ride with the stock bars I am reaching forward in almost a hunched position. My shoulders and back are not in a comfortable position at all. All I am doing is thinking how much the pain is bothering me and how uncomfortable I am. No one should be riding like that it takes the concentration off watching the road.
With the Khromewerks 2+2 narrow sweepers My hands are higher and my back is in a more relaxed place. I don't get that kink in my neck or numbness in my right shoulder. If I thought I would be even better off I would go another 2" higher but I'll stop where I am at.
I also put on a mustang backrest, that gave me something to lean back against. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I hope that helps you some. Sorry I forgot to add the price. I was quoted $834.00 for bars and cables installed.

Yes I do, the worst part is I just went through some of this with the trike I traded in. Thankfully I only put in a lift kit and cat less header and PV license that had to stay on the trike. I removed anything else that I had done like the breather, custom dynamics LED Ringz and the Kury rear LED tail lights.
I figure I am out of pocket $400 over 10 months of riding it. I can live with that. I can hold off doing anything else to the new trike when I get it by just putting on the parts I had on the previous trike.
This new one like yours runs much better than the 13's did. I was really surprised how HD had stepped up the performance and added the 255 cams.
I can hold off making any more changes until at least the 1K oil change.
