i gots a brandy new old goldwing yesterday.

wow oh wow am I sore. Have to figure out how to sit on this thing. know i know what it would feel like to be at a gyno.

the bike is an 89 with a Hobo outrigger kit. sturdy piece and well made and stong mounts.

rode it about 260 miles last night to get it home from northern Va and took it out for about 4 hours this afternoon. Momma loves it. so that makes it a keeper. i keep getting told i will get used to the seating position and the hip joints will stop hurting. I hope it is soon.

i hope it will last us a long time so i can get to old to actually ride.

then i feel I have fullfilled my mission in life to ride as much as possible.

now i need a sign for the back that says dont laugh at my training wheels.

I hope this finds all of you ready to go out and have a great memorial day weekend and when you toast those that protected us before. hoist a brew of choice in their honor.

peace, ride safe and keep the rubber side down.

Depends on what you get used to. If I ride my Triglide for a few weeks in a row my Goldwing feels uncomfortable but after a bit riding the wing it feels fine. Set your seat back as far as you can at first till you get used to it somewhat. I find it helps to kind of squeeze with the knees for some reason.

Gotta agree with Catfish, beautiful color! On seat comfort, it looks like a Corbin seat on your ride. I've heard they take a while to conform to your riding position. (er, azz, if you get my drift) I don't want to start a controversy, but the only one I ever had never got used to me or me it.. or something. It was just painful after a couple of hours. Ended up getting a factory seat from ebay, which was much better for me. I'm somewhat over weight, so my Doc says.. which could have contributed. But it just seemed the Corbin was unusually hard.

At any rate, I'm sure you'll get it dialed in & enjoy many miles of smiles.

seat

found the tag on the seat it is a travelcade seat. so i dont think it will slide back. the seat is prett comfy but it is worn so next stop after getting the brakes situated so it stops like it should will be to take it down to meane city cycles in NC and get it tuned up and recovered. i havent seen any bad reviews on them and the stuff the put out that i have seen pictures of look really nice.

will probably be taking it out about an hour or two each day for a while and see if my hips will get adjsted from running on the vtx all the time while i have been saving money to get the pacific coast rebuilt using parts from a running parts bike i got for a whopping 800 bucks. that thing runs good but i want my old on repaired. it is the only vehicle i have ever bought band new with no miles, so it's not going anywhere till i cant walk any longer. looked at triking it too but decided it wouldnt like that much extra weight. after talking with the gent on the phone that made the outrigger kit and he explained that for a more solid feel to let air out of the shock and to give it a more sedate feel on the road with more give in the leaning ie you can lean it a little before it will lock onto the outrigger but ride smoother for highway running i have it set for mostly a solid running feel. will experiment with the softer setting ie higher shock air later on once i get used to it more.

fueled it up last night and not to bad 160 something miles on 4.5 gallons.

so i dont thing the outrigger adds a lot of drag at all. trying to decide if i want to get a 1 inch box hitch added or just go with the flat plate style ball mount. and have to find myself a kyurakian(sp) hitch plug as that is what is on the trailer already. and then sit down and figure out a rewire of a five to a four flat plug so i can take the trailer on camping with the grandson. he isnt quite tall enough to stick his feet on the pegs yet. so maybe nex summer i can get him on the bike and used to the highway running.

it has highway pegs on the engine guards but those are useless to me alltogether as my feet dont reach that far.

i told my wife it was the fat getting in the way. she didnt buy it.

suprizingly it fits her little tiny self great but she cant really reach the bars on it.

otherwise i would tell her to get her permit and ride it herself. she just looked at me like i had lost my mind. she wants one of thos little scoothers but her feet dont eveen get to the ground on one of those. hoping to find someone that can put a car tire on the back so i can set my brain worries aside on the high and fast wear the rear tire is getting. and wondering if adding an eazy steer would make a difference of much value as it is pretty much neutral handling now. effort is heaverier then with two wheels but not overly so.

thanks for the well wishes and helpfull hints in how to sit astride this thing without locking up while doing so.

have a great weekend and ride safe.
