Found a well maintained 2002 GW with CSC conversion. Bike has 51k and conversion has 42k on it. Converted in 08' Would 40k be high miles on a CSC? Asking price is $19,000.

If it has been maintained, 50K is still almost new for a Goldwing. Check the driveshaft and CV joints. Fair price if all is good.........

Owner gave me name of dealer where all service has been done as well as the service mgr. name which knows the bike well. Has lots of chrome acc, cover, helmets. He's firm on $19k. Have not looked at it yet.

You might want to investigate the CSC driveline issues affecting that model. It can be converted to the new style which is reported to be much improved. The mileage itself is no issue if trike has been maintained properly.

To answer your question, it depends on the brand of conversion!
Those with horizontal angles of the drive shaft require a lot more maintenance and are more prone to U-joint failures, IMHO.
Pertaining to CSC specifically, yes they did have a drive shaft failure problem. Supposedly corrected by a new design for it.
Addressing the unit you are looking at:
1. I'd make sure it has the new design drive shaft. If not, I'd look else where.
2. As for the asking price, I think it's some what high! For example, I sold my 2006 level IV Wing w/a 2010 Hannigan w/foot fairings, rear spoiler wing, chrome wheels and all forward facing surfaces covered w/3M stone guard for $21,000. Bike had 40k+ miles and the conversion had 20K+.
3. I'd run the vin through a dealer to make sure all recalls have been done. In particular, trike with brakes unlinked(front to rear)or not, it still needs the brake recall performed on it, This replaces the secondary master cylinder and the rear master cylinder.
Also, there's a 2002 Wing w/a brand new Road Smith conversion on Ebay right now w/starting bid of $19,999 and there are 0 bids. Actually bidding closes in less than 5min!
