Horn Advice...

I have a set of Rivco air horns which I love. They look great, are very loud, but I can't seem to keep them working 100%. My question is, if I replace them, are there any "all electric" horns (no mini air compressor needed) that are EXTRA loud (the louder, the better) and that either look good, or (if ugly) can be easily installed and "hidden" underneath the plastic (or wherever)?

I have a Friend here that just simply uses 4 Stock Gold Wing 1800 Horns.....You'd be amazed how Loud this is.....:AGGHH:

I think air horns are your loudest option. Wonder why the rivs aren't working, is it electrical, or could there be a crack in the air hose. I just ordered a twin air horn (with mini compressor) for under 45 bucks......146 decibels! If you want I will send you the link.

Hiding will probably decrease volume. That being said, decide where you would mount one or two horns before you decide upon a horn. I have low- and high=note fiams mounted on either side of my C50 and a Wolo Bad Boy mounted on the left of the jugs on the trike. I can't tell the difference in volume, even though the Fiamms are all electric. If I had been able to figure out symmetrical mounting on the trike, I would have gone with the Fiamms on both.

I've tried both. I mounted the FIAMM Freeway Blaster Horns (Hi and Low) on my Softail Standard (under the chrome stock H-D cover) wired both horns in parallel, and replaced the 15 amp fuse (on the stock fuse panel) with a 20 amp fuse.

I installed a WOLO Bad Boy on my wife V-Star 1100, and it required a relay & wiring.

The two FIAMM horns cost $32. The WOLO Bad Boy, from Harbor Freight, cost $35 (but they're heavily discounted everywhere.) The FIAMM horns sounded as loud as the WOLO air horn, and the installation was clean and easy to do.

They're both CLEARLY better than a stock horn, but I gave the edge to the FIAMM horns

I have Rivco Air Horns on both of my Wings. The ones on my 89 2-wheeler have been on since 2000. I put Rivco's on my trike in 2011. I've been very happy with the Rivco's but If I could do it again I would go with a Rivco electric horn. They're very loud and can be concealed.

The pro pad mini beast is no longer an airhorn If they claim it is as loud as the previous model and is the loudest mc horn. I have the air horn model and it is loud!

Just to add to the electric horn preference...I've had air horns and had nothing but trouble over time. mini air compressor cracking, one into three plastic tube connector breaking etc. I'm about to seek out a loud leectric horn for these reasons.

But whatever you do we all agree on one thing- that the louder the better so we can blast drivers into sanity after they "dont see us".

Love my Rivco horns. Installed with full relay. Air compressor under rear seat. Horns and relay at original horn location. Had to replace relay at 40k miles. Air hose at 50k and about to replace horns at 64k. I'd say components last long. I have seen a one piece air compressor and horn assembly that is supposed to just use existing wires at my local bike shop. Don't remember brand though.

I have the air horns mounted under the trunk. Can't see it but you can sure hear it. Air horns are louder then all electric hands down.

i am running a Custom Dynamics MiniBeast on my CSC trike. It is an air horn with the compressor and relay built right into the unit. Pretty much plug and play. They claim it to be 136 decibels. It is loud... gets peoples attention!

I have a set of "Big BF Quad Horns". Big BF is a deaf Valk Guru who fabs & sells a few specialty items for the Valk 1500.

Although made ace specifically for the Valk, the quad horns would work with most trikes. I had to remove mine from the proper location when I installed a belly tank and it was not a problem to find another suitable location underneath the Lehman trike, completely out of sight.

The quad horns are four dual tone automotive horns, wired and fitted with a relay. You can leave your existing horns functional.
