I need about 2" more height above the current hitch ball height on my Freewheeler hitch. Etrailer.com has a ball with a 2" rise, but the shank is too big. The shank hole diameter on my receiver is 1/2". Does anyone know of a ball that has a 2" rise with a 1/2" shank diameter, or possibly another solution. My hitch is a Hitch Doc. Thanks for any input.

As you said E Trailer has a ball with a 2" rise built into it and you could bore your hitch shank to take the bigger diameter. Or, cut the shank off the high rise ball and weld on the appropriate size bolt minus the head. That's the less expensive ways out, but if it was me I'd change the hitch to one with a 1.25 square receiver.

Ron,

Give Hitch Doc a call. They are a Mom and pop business that is very willing to work with their customers.

My guess is that the shaft on the hitch would be 7/8-14 thread? Like said before take hitch to machine shop and have it bored for clearance or you could have them turn down the ball shaft size to 3/4-16 thread,I know it can be done because I have done it for my tractor.
