Registered a few weeks ago but never really did an intro. Names Jim from Appleton WI. Got the link from a member on the Road Star Clinic. Been riding since I was 16 (60 next month ). Always loved trikes but never really thought about it till the last year or so. Doc told me today that the time frame for a new knee just got pushed up to this November. Own an '03 Road Star and figure it'll be my last bike. Gotta start seriously considering 3 (or 4) wheels for it now.

Welcome Jim. The Yammi Road Star makes a great trike.

Several members here have triked theirs, most are using the Champion conversion.

Hey Jim, and Welcome to TrikeTalk! Absolutely no reason to give up riding with a new knee .... you will still handle a trike just fine, and without the worry of steadying the weight of a bike on 2 wheels!

Hi Jim...welcome to the Funhouse! I just joined myself a week or so ago (feels like I've been here forever) and I can tell you I've never met a friendlier or more helpful group...you're gonna love it. I also have a Roadstar and am awaiting the Body to come back from the Paint Shop; so, as you can imagine, I'm bouncing off the walls. I did mine with a Motor Trike Kit, so once I get it, I'll be able to share some info.
Again, Weclome to TT
Welcome - Whether you trike your existing bike (which is one of my favorites) or get something else, I am sure you will be glad you did. There is about a 500 miles learning curve once you are on three, after that you're ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner. Of course we are here for any questions that you may have during the "process".

READ this while you are waiting . Lot of helpful stuff. ask questions WE R all ears.http://www.triketalk.com/forum/gener...post-here.html

You'll do fine on a trike and still in the wind. The knee won't even be a factor.

As an aside, My dad had both knees replaced (at the same time!) years ago. Before the operation the doctor asked him if he was Catholic. Couldn't figure out what that was about until the doc said he could do anything except kneel! He was playing golf 6 weeks after the operation, and back on the ice skating (he was a high school hockey coach) in 4 months. Technology and techniques have come a long way in the last 20 years - you'll be fine.

Welcome Jim. I, too came over from the roadstar clinic last winter. Laid down my roadstar and fractured a vertabrae, so decided at 69 I would be happier on a trike. Looked at all the ways to convert the star, but finally decided to go with a used goldwing with the conversion all ready installed. Got a good buy, and love the trike!
Put a little over 2500 miles on it so far this summer, and have a Colorado trip planned for early Sept.
Whatever you ride, the trike will satisfy every thing you want, and all I can say for sure is you meet some great people on trikes. I can attest that silly grin lasts more than 6 months. I still have mine.

Welcome aboard Jim. Good luck with your decision. Believe us a trike is the way to go.
