Hello to all fellow forum members from a proud Tri Glide owner in the UK. My 2018 M8 Tri Glide has just started throwing a fault code each time I take her out for a run. The code is U0156 which is “Lost Comms with Speedo”. The code shows in two areas and after the code I also see the following -

Pn AMD(?) 00001

and

Pn 41000341C

I have tried to identify each number with no luck currently. So, the bike starts, stops and runs fine. I have not noticed anything missing / not working on the speedo etc so I am assuming the fault isn't serious.

The fault has only appeared since having a Stage 1 kit fitted by a dealer and myself fitting genuine Harley heated grips.

My thoughts are a wiring issue somewhere behind the batwing fairing / left or right switchgear or in the handlebars from wiring the heated grips (which work fine) But what are the Pn numbers? I thought “part number” but am guessing! Any members have any thoughts or similar experience before going to my local dealer?

Regards

Bob

Hi Bob, what you have are indeed part numbers that may be triggering codes

Follow this link to view your codes, codes are listed here in this link, they will not be a part number until you first see what the dtc is, it will be something like P0031

The U code and the other part number refer to the ECM/ BCM and a lost communication

The U code also sometimes shows after you exit the scan, it can show the ECM part number as being the module that was scanned

Scan it again and pay attention to all the other codes

Pn 41000341C is the Body Control Module (BCM) - the computer that regulates everything but the engine. The other Pn I don't know since it is not a complete number. Might try pulling the 50A main fuse and leaving it out for several minutes before reinstalling. Might clear things out. Good luck getting it sorted.
