HELP!!! Trike Hauling??????

Hello! I need some advice. I am moving from sacramento to Oregon and have a trike to bring. I have been looking at the motorcylce tow hitch that fits directly into the receiver, you place front tire on it, strap it down and off you go. I have gotten conflicting info. regarding the necessity(and increase in price) in getting one with a swivel and or not. Does anyone have any first hand info. or knowledge of what happens on turns when towing a vw trike so close behind a 4runner? thank you so much for your time and consideration

JMO, I would rent an enclosed trailer to haul it.
Doesn't sound like a very good way that you have. To risky.

yep!! And it probably ain't gonna be very good for the neck bearings or front forks. Seems there would be a lot of torque in those areas when the towing vehicle. goes around sharp turns

What I also don't like about those type of tow-ers is how low to the ground they make the rear end of the trike. If you pull into a Bakersfield gas station with a gutter...I think that there's gonna be damage.

If you rent an enclosed trailer, note the width of the rear door opening not the width of the trailer inside. Usually if the trailer is 6' wide, the door opening is about 5'. For a VW it'd have to be pretty long too. Overall, this is a pretty heavy load for a 4Runner when you hit the mountains.

I finally settled for the Aluma TK1. It's built from the ground up especially for trike hauling. It's light enough to add only 500lbs to the overall pulling weight. Got mine for $2425 new. Add $250 for a receiver if you need one. Now I can pull my trike with my Dodge van pretty easily.

You can rent a large moving van and put it in there if you can manage the room.

You can also ride it up there and Greyhound one way red-eye back for the regular drive. These are just some options. Good luck with your trip/move.
