Helmets

What brand and type helmet do you wear?
- 3/4 Harley Davidson most days with the plug in intercom for radio and phone blue tooth, and longer trips in the city (non-highway) mostly below 50-55 mph due to increased wind noise and wind effect above those speeds
- 1/2 Daytona Helmets for short trips around town on hot days on nothing but city streets with low mph
- Full modular Shoei Neotec on the highway also with the plug in intercom, for less noise, less wind effect, and more protection from bad weather or the high speed accident

1/2 Daytona Helmet for around town in warm weather.
Shoei RF1200 full helmet for highway & cold weather.

Bob :D

Schuberth Modular C3 pro with internal SRC system for communications.

Comfy(if it fits right) quiet and made very well.

HD 1/2 for around town and hot days. HD Modular for road trips with A SENA blue tooth for the wife and I when we ride together. Outlaw 1/2 with Vietnam graphs. And one a 3/4 HD.

We use the H-D Hybrid 1/2 helmets around town and in the summer, for trips and weather we have the HJC IS-MAX-II modular ones with intercom hookup.

Speaking of helmets...

I went for a short ride this morning and it was raining so hard that i couldn't see out of my full face shield, So when i got home i started thinking....[I really got to stop that] Anyway i notice while riding there is a vortex/back pressure coming from the back of the helmet. So i took the helmet into my shop and did a little re-engineering. What i did was i reversed the air vents; i.e. I put the rear vents in the front and the front vents in the rear. Then i went for another ride in the rain...I immediately noticed the rain blew off my shield and the helmet felt much lighter. By a factor of 2.533. Also my gas milage increased, and my engine was running cooler. And as an extra bonus when i got to my local watering hole and removed my helmet i didn't have helmet hair, My hair looked just like i had it styled..
Sometimes it pays to think outside the box..
Disclaimer;;;; Check that this Re-engineeing doesn't void your helmet warrantee....

Sherry and I wear Scorpion EXO 1/2 helmets w/retractable visors. We have other good helmets but prefer the halfs.

3/4 Harley Davidson, which was a good helmet until I put the comm system in it. The earphones hurt my ears, even though I cut the pocket for it out so it could set recessed further back in the earhole.

Helmet

Non-DOT here where helmets are not required, mainly for visor. Wear my 1/2 helmet if going out of state or my modular for long trips where rain is likely.

Scorpion EXO. Have 2. One with HD boom system for trips and a plane Jane for local runs. Only flaw I find is the sun visor is too short. Wear them all the time to keep the sun off my bald head.

The Solution to that problem is to' Only take the left front vent and put it on the right rear vent housing , And then only take the right rear vent and put it on the left front vent housing.. And make sure to mark them so as not to mix them up, You don't want to cause a Butterfly effect.... :gah:

Gloria has a Scorpion EXO220. Hers is white, and has a retractable sun visor and a long faceshield - reaches below the chin for very good wind deflection. The faceshield is replaceable with a short visor if wanted. scorpion helmet.jpg I have the slightly more retro looking "Bixby" version.scorpion 2.jpg

Generally, none.........

I will carry a 1/2 helmet I have had for a number of years that I will wear in a stat that requires it.....or, extreme weather.

Outlaw half helmet usually but on long trips with the wife I utilize a full coverage with full front flip and intercom so we can talk without having to yell all the time.
