Not really trike related but I just purchased a new Shoei J-Cruise helmet. We went for a 200 mile ride on Saturday on the new 1800 trike, loved the trike and the helmet felt great all day. My issue is I am trying to install my old J&M headset into the helmet. The helmet has cutouts for the speaker however they are not large enough in dia. to accept the speakers. I have looked at using some hard foam to shim out the speakers to make them fit better but then the speakers may be rubbing my ears. I saw that J&M sells a ultra thin speaker, its suppose to be 12mm thick in the middle. Two questions, has anyone else installed speakers into this helmet and does anyone have any experience with the thinner speaker, the model is HSCP-UTS1. I have contacted J&M and they just keep telling this would be a custom install and have not really given me any information to help.

Sorry that I can't offer more help. However, it sounds like J&M already answered your question. To me "custom install" means that it's an unusual combination of pieces and that they'll have to look at it to offer accurate advise.

I don't know about the Shoei helmet but I had to buy smaller speakers for my new Nolan when I went from a model 102 to a 93. The speakers on the old helmet were to large in diameter for the pockets on the new helmet. I don't remember the part number for the speakers I got to replace the old ones but they work great in the new helmet. Got the new ones from Sierra Electronics.

Speaker Problems

Sorry to hear about your speaker problems. We were interested in the J-Cruse but could not find one in 200 miles of our home to look at. We just purchased two Arai helmets from Sierra Electronics. They installed Sena 10 - S head set at no additional charge. They just charged us for the helmets and head sets. we bought two helmets and they gave use an additional discount. They were great to deal with and had good pricing. The heads sets are wire less, give us hands free blue tooth for our phones. and individual volume controls. The six speakers on the Wing have good sound Quality . There is also and adapter to make the Gold Wing Audio to come through your head set. So far we haven't seen the need to do this. So point is Contact Sierra Electronics they are good people to deal with. Much more than the people at J&M and a lot less expensive. We have had J&M head set for the last 8 years in 4 different helmets. So I like many other have had problems with connectors and cords. Good Luck

thanks for the reply, I will give them a try and see what they come up with. It appears worse case scenario I can trim the plastic pocket in the helmet to make the current speakers fit.

That's what I did with a helmet/speaker fitting problem. It was a pretty easy job to do with a dremel tool.

Thanks for the input, I am leaning towards just making my current speakers fit since they are not very old. I do have a dremel tool, between that and an exacto knife should be able to get it done!
