I am a newbie and am seriously looking at a 2010 HD Tri glide Classic with 1800 miles on it for a reasonable price. Ive read on some of the boards that the 10s were very hot and had some power issues. Just wandering if anyone has info that could help me decide. I am also looking at 2015 HD Tri-Glide in excellent condition as well with only 1600 miles. Obviously the 2015 is several thousand more than the 2010. I just wander if its worth it to spend about an extra 7 grand for the newer bike is worth it. I did talk to the service manager at our local HD store and he advised changing all the fluids and the tired on the 10 model. Any thoughts...

Howdy Randy!

Randy...welcome to TrikeTalk from west Texas!

I can’t help with info/advice as to the Harley as I drive a cool kid Gold Wing GL1800. Just wanted to welcome another Texan onboard.

By the way, we usually have a trike gathering in Kerrville TX around the first week in October... watch for info out here. Hope you can make it - we have a really good time.

Welcome to TT. from Ohio. Myself I would go for the 15. They were on a learning curve in 09 & 10. Or about July the 20's come out & you could get a fairly good deal on a 19 , Best of luck on any you buy.

Welcome aboard Randy

The 2010 had a 32 tooth front off the transmission drive pulley. A lot of people changed that pulley to a 30 tooth and that made it perform much better. The down side of the change the cruise will not work most likely the "6" gear indicator will not light and the speedo goes about 5 mph off. All that is because of the gear change. The fix was install a tuner that allowed changing the speedo reading. Correct the number that is read in the ECM with the tuner and all the listed issues go away.

The rear brakes on the 10 were not that great either. HD came out with an ungraded rotors for the rear and if you use an after market pad like EBC pads that issue is no longer a problem. The heat issue is pretty much an issue for all Harleys. You would be well planned to expect to put some LOVE JUGS on either the 10 or the 15. There are some other things that can be done about the heat. They all apply to both years. Go to one of our sponsors web pages DK CUSTOMS and he has a whole article on the subject.

Bottom line it all depends on what works for you. You only mention that they are 7k dollars apart but do not mention what price. They both could be over priced or under priced. Good luck do a lot of searching on this forum. There is a lot of information available.

Welcome to the forum from Western Pennsylvania stop by often. As well as referring to the years for 7.000 dollars you can do a lot for the older trike and really make it yours. That is unless you get hung up on model years and trade value, the 10 is not even close to be broken in yet good luck on your choice. Fred
