Hello from Washington, PA

We are new to trikes and starting out on an older bike with a not recent conversion. This 2004 Yamaha Road Star 1700 was converted by Champion 8 years ago. The wheels are spoked with Vogue tires in the rear (White walls with a gold stripe) and the front matches.

These appear to be the original tires from the conversion. The front tire has no markings that can be read, so here is what we know.

The Original 2004 Road Star tire size is 130/90H-16.

The wheel size is 19" out side to outside so 18" dia. tire.

Here is what I'm trying to figure out:

If we assume the tire size other than the wheel remained the same, can we install a 130/70 18 tire without effecting the performance of the trike by potentially lowing the front stance by and inch?

This will of course change the MPH accuracy but who looks at that anyway...

or, even better than guessing what we have, does anyone know what is used in these conversions?

Looking forward to discussions and learning from this group.

Thanks!

Beautiful trike.

Until you know your trike better, might I suggest that you simply stay with the same tires all around

:wave4:Welcome to Trike Talk!!! Until you know what size rim you have its impossible to figure what tire you can put on it.There was alot of custom wheels available for the Roadstar. It was a very popular bike to customize.
