My 05 ultra came with a compass, (not working) and I'm going to replace it. Not sure what to replace it with. With a GPS there's no need for a compass, is there? It has the fuel, oil press., and voltage gauge. The engine temp. and oil temp. are important. Which one is more critical to monitor? Are the oil temp. and level dip sticks a good investment?

I think a fairing mount oil temp gauge would be great. Don't know why the MOCO didn't provide one instead of the air temp gauge. I'm thinking of replacing the air temp with oil temp but believe I have to change something else too in order to install the sending unit??

It's not that hard to replace the guage with a oil temp guage. HD sells one to match most of thier guage styles. The easy part is to replace the guage in the fairing. The wiring is not bad either. The lighting is a direct replacement. The power to the guage is also easy. You have to run a wire to the bottom of the motor from the guage not a difficult task just be carefull to follow the current wiring harnesses. On the oil pan there is a plug that you can remove and using brass adapters from NAPA/or, adapt if necessary the sending unit into this opening. You are then done. I get a real good reading from there. I have compared it to the oil temp with a manual reading through the oil fill whole and it has been the same.
