There was a HD dealership here in stone mountain,ga, that has closed it doors for good, like gone, was one of the biggest around, wonder if HD is having trouble with sales.
There is another one near here that is having problems too, seems strange that they are closing up.

Ray... they merged with Granite Mountain in Conyers and moved recently. Most of the employees from ST. Mountain are still in Conyers now.

The one down here in Tifton that is closest to me is addding on making it over twice as large.

Several years ago the two owners of Killer had a blow out. The owner of the dealerships in Dalton and Chattanooga was a half owner of Killer. He pulled his money out of Killer and left. Was ugly.

He then purchased Tifton and Albany. But... since HD will not allow you to own more than two dealerships he had to mask his purchase by using a partner to apply for the dealerships. The plans to make Tifton bigger has been in the works since before the purchase.

Kevin, the GM at Albany used to be the SM at Killer. He and a few others from Killer moved close to you so they could work at those two dealerships. It was an interesting shake up.

There is a group of business men in Indiana whom purchased 3 HD dealerships around the state, just a few years ago.
Also, Smoky Mountain HD has at least 3 locations.
Apparently HD has changed the 2 dealership rule.

It's a possibility.. or it could have been three from the beginning.

I had a very dear friend that got caught up in all of the above... he ended up losing his marriage, house and his dignity over chasing the almighty $.

One of the longest running, family owned dealerships in the country closed its doors. "Reggie Pinks" in Westchester County N.Y.. Tom :)

This is not only true With Harley, there has been some Honda dealers close their doors to as well as well as some dealers of other brands.
Adult toys are just not selling very well right now.To many people out of work and the ones who are working not spending any money because they are worried they may lose their job.
Lets face it the econemy stinks and we are not going to get out of it for some time to come.

Yea all of that especially where I live, it being just outside Detroit, Mi. We lost 2 metric dealers close by in the last year here. HD dealers seem to be holding on so far but ya just never know.
