I accidently put some serious scratches in the OEM windshield and made things worse trying to polish them out.
A new OEM is rediculous moneywise.
So I bought a real cheapy made in China as temp solution.
I have a National Switch Blade on my Yamaha and couldnt be happier with it.
My question is has anyone used this one in the past and if so any issues with it??
I did order it yesterday anyway, but I am curious.

Thanks in advance.

A V-Stream was on our 2004 GL1800 Champion when we got it. We really like it. It seems to to handle air better while being shorter than the tall Tulsa we used to have on our last trike. Both had a full set of hand and wind wings, and Gloria says there is less buffeting in the back with the National Cycle shield. When we got it someone had installed a vent from a GL1500, which didn't fit correctly. I put in the 1800 vent and all is well. Some may think it looks strange with the bump below the vent and the curves on the edges, but we like the look, and more importantly it works.

I have a windstream and would not ride without it.
Besides the baker wings its the BEST air control thing I have put on the bike.
I really sends the are around you, and the wife behind me agrees wholehartedly

One thing though, I would opt for the extra bucks thicker model
The Vstream special edition. less vibration,
WITH the vent... you will need it, because this thing will move air away from you and you may get hot in warm weather.

PLUS the special edition comes with their brand of water repellent. GREAT stuff...
Dont let the fumes get in your nose though... LOL

I had read a few reviews and that was the main complaint. Flexing at highway speeds.
I honestly in my commute hit 60mph+ for maybe a mile. Most riding is at 45/50ish secondary roads.
I couldnt in my mind justify the heafty price increase for the 2mil, I believe more.
This ones only $179 on Amazon.
From what has already been said here. I think it will work out nicely for me.
As long as its opticaly clear.
The cheap screen I have on now is about a +1.50 makes reading license plates up close real clear. Blurs everything else up a bit down the road.

I'm not using one yet but after reading about them I'm going to get one after I get m new seat. I will opt for the thicker one though.
Thanks for the good info.

Got the windscreen today.
Weird looking affair if I say so.
Anyway installed it and I have to say without taking a ride.
Yup its going to flex. No doubt in my mind.
So far also Im 0 for 2 with vents fitting right off the bat.
Makes me think my bikes a 2010 with an 09 vent.
Got in there but what a fight. I can only imagine it never going back on the thicker shield they have.
Plus the screens so curved very hard to open the vent with just one finger flipping the lever. Maybe over time it will ease up a bit??
So next time, if there is a next time.
Im going ventless. Hardly use it anyway, but have on really hot hot days here.
That's my 2 cents worth.

Ooooh also broke off a tab on the cowling, where the rubber seal for the right hand mirror goes.:AGGHH:
In the process of rebuilding it now with some plastic filler I have.
Actually JB Weld for plastic.
Some mighty fine gunk that is.:D

I used THEIR vent, not the honda vent, it seemed to work better

I have to take it all apart again tomorrow.
The right upper part of the vents not in the channel all the way for starters.
The screen is also very hard to move up and down once I put the front cowl back on.
Its a very tight fit.
Took it out on the Interstate today ran it at 70-75 for a bit.
Really nice wind diversion compared to the OEM.
Best of all no flexing in the all the way upright position.:D

The V-Stream on our trike is the "regular", not the thick one, and I don't notice any buffeting on the highway either.
Do you have the correct event? When we got the trike there was a vent from a GL1500. The 1500 vent has phillips screws on the inside holding the inner and outer parts together. The 1800 vent has allen screws on the outside fastening the 2 sides. They are not interchangeable. The vent hole seems to be a different shape and/or the curve is different.
I replaced the 1500 vent with an aftermarket 1800 vent from Big Bike Parts or somesuch and all is well.
I have the windshield all the way up and I look just over it, and the wind goes over and around both of us. Along with the shield, I have the full set of Baker wings (Hand wings under the mirrors, upper and lower wind wings and trike wings on the engine bars) All this combined makes for good wind control with just enough breeze to fell like a motorcycle.

The main issue to me is the screen is thicker then the OEM and its very difficult for me to put enough pressure on the vent to get it to snap under the lip so to speak. I hope that is also why I cant pull it up or down easily being thickness related.
I had the same issue when the bike was new with the OEM.
A little WD40 on the mechanism took care of that back then.
Im physically not that strong in the hands dept anymore.:AGGHH:
Playing the drums for 40 years and work, arthritis has really set in.
Its an 1800 vent for sure.
Ill get it in later today.

Got it as it should be.
Both the vent and smooth operation.
Same issue as when I originally got the trike.
The center mount of the windscreen has a small spring loaded hook to hold it in position.
It just needed a squirt of WD yet again.
I guess grease would have been better if you could get it in there short of just applying a big blob and hopping it reaches the back end of it.

We have been using the deluxe model for 18 months. Love it. I used silicon lube on the internals. I had a time installing it because of the thickness, but in the end it works great. Also, with the extra thickness I don't have to worry about crap that falls off the truck in front of me taking my head off.

I just at the time couldn't see the price difference being worth it.
Now after a few weeks and few hundred miles.
Yes I made a mistake. No doubt about it. The thicker would have been better.
Im sure you have no flapping of the ends at speed as I do.
Its actually rather annoying if I don't look straight ahead.
But
Do you find with the rake of the screen that when its raining. Your actually getting wetter then you did with the OEM??
Rain runs up the shield over the top and right in my face. Not happy with that one bit. I get soaked, never did with the OEM in the highest position.
Otherwise overall, I feel its a good choice as I insist on having a Lexan shield. Acrylics just doesn't do it for me safety wise.

You height may be the issue. in the highest position water hits me right above the visor and flies over the helmet
