Happy Thanksgiving to All!

I’m doing something different this year…and cheaper…

Pheasant!

The store did not have my usual smoked turkey breast but there was this lovely pheasant sitting right next to the frozen turkeys…. What the heck..I’ll try it…I have eaten plenty dove and quail in my life…can’t be too much different….don’t need to impress anybody but me so.. here we go!

Any cooking suggestions from experienced pheasant cooks would be appreciated. I have found one Emeril recipe I think sounds decent.. LOL!

The store was also out of whole cranberry sauce so bought fresh cranberries and will try making my own. We shall see.. :cxtv:

Cant help with the bird , but follow the cranberry resipie, on the bag and add a orange . Cant go wrong. Have a good meal :D

Growing up in Odessa, we used to walk out those big “Blue Quail”! Now, I look at a “Bob” and think; “I am going to starve eating those little birds!”. LOL

Sorry, but I have never tasted pheasant and can’t say either way. The corporation that I worked for had a training center in Los Colinas and Marriott would train their ‘Chefs’ there. On Sundays, you got pheasant! Guess who never got to go or be there on Sundays!

I tried deep frying a Cornish hen one time …….! Turkeys I can do, but my little hen was “mummy-fryed”! The time to weight ratio, was waaaaay off! LOL

I hope you enjoy the pheasant and it works out for you.

I do my own cooking (and eating). Keeping it simple this year. Today I went to the store (it was a madhouse). Bought a chunk of honey glazed ham, garlic mashed potatoes, jar of turkey gravy, and stuffing. I already have horseradish. I'll kick back and do a little micro wave cooking and watch some football. Might even have a cocktail (or two). Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Cheers..... Jim

Let’s see …….. the list:

Turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, creamed corn, green beans, and mashed taters! Sounds like a great list for a Thanksgiving dinner for me. Sadly, they will remain at the store. I ain’t cookin’. I be a travelin’ man this year! LOL

Getting ready to roll ….

”Have a fun and family filled Thanksgiving Y’all!

Jim
