Hannigan Holes

Those "relief slots" allow air to flow through as opposed to being stifled, trapped and held in that area forward of the front vertical fender surface. They prevent excessive noise from the buffeting effect as well as improving overall aerodynamics of the trike. They also enhance and contribute to the overall functionality of the Foot Fairings (sub-framed & load-bearing Running Boards) by eliminating any vacuum zone from being created.
