Hand grip

Hairspray should work. Would be leery of glue since the time will eventually come when you want to take them off for a new pair.

I like Gorilla Glue but it is pretty permanent.

For grips and other jobs, I keep a bottle of Grip-It glue on the bench. I have used it on a handlebar grip and later decided to pry off the worn grip and replace it - no problem. Holds well, solves the problem. About $8 a bottle.

Another nice thing about Grip-It is that it gets tacky quickly and can be used on rubber, plastic, wood and fiberglass also.

For the same problem, I used two sided grip tape (golf grips). When you put the tape on the bar, just pour a bit of lighter fluid on it and slide your grip on. Let it set up for a while, it's there for keeps.
