Hi all

On Saturday I am off on my longest ride yet, right across the country east coast to west coast in a single day!

This has been organised by my local bikers cafe and will follow the Roman Road along Hadrians wall from WALLSEND in the east to Bo'ness on Solway in the west! Including rides from and to the start it will be about 300 miles.

I am raising funds for Help for Heroes a UK charity for injured veterans.

The weather looks to be the hottest day of the year at 26c and I am excited and nervous at the prospect.

What a great fund raiser! And that route will be wonderful, Tinbasher. There is so much amazing history and the countryside is beautiful <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />

Fantastic ride in scorching weather with new friends and old and £6000 raised for injured veterans. Not a bad day at all.

I gather that is speed up, slow down type driving. Express way you can make that in 5-6 hours. In up and down driving closer to 7or 8 hours. Then you have to worry about livestock in the road. Make sure you get to camp before dark. Ride safe.

Yes Bustedwing the ride to the start was mostly " highway riding" but the ride itself included mountainous twisties, high moorland where sheep roam free and have suicidal tendencies!

We followed the "military road" most of the way which follows the ancient roman road and is straight as a die for almost the whole 60 miles but up and down. It's a "B" road so 60 mph limit and because its such a long straight road a favourite with the speed cops.

At the Filling Station Cafe before the start.
