Well got around to pulling the carbs out today. Someone has been in it. Had #38 slow jets in them. All clean. Removed all the smog junk. Found pilot jets way out of adjustment. this usually because of the smog junk. I have a 97 model and pilots adjust to 1 3/4 turn form set. I found some 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 turns from seat. Set them all to 1 3/4 installed my new electric fuel shut off, made my peck cock to manual vs vacuum. Put all back together and syn the carbs. They was way out. After fine tuning she is purring like a cat. Installed all new fuel line, new air filter. Pretty well tuned up now. I might later install the I/S springs and trigger wheel. Waiting on the 6 degree triple tree to come in and also ordered new tires and better air bag system. She is running the way she should now.

Over the years I've worked on multi carb bikes and cars. It would be nice if people didn't screw with things they know nothing about... They always make things worse... Its good you got it running right... Good thing about people screwing them up though... They usually get pissed at it and sell it cheap...:clapping:

I'm just glad I have the knowledge to work on the Valkyrie. I owned a Tourer for 11 years and being a chief Mechanic by trade I can just about work on the Valkyrie with my eyes closed. Usually once you have it turned and carbs syn they pretty well stay that way. Tomorrow I will remove all the vacuum ports from the intakes and install bolts in them with a med lock tight. I like to do away with any means of vacuum leaks.

I just got done rebuilding the carbs and getting the Valk ready for the Roadsmith kit to arrive. Not as hard as I thought it might be. Cleanliness and patience are the keys. I am looking forward to getting the kit and triking this thing.

Looks good. Almost bought a black Valkyrie trike. Was looking at a dealership and was $150 apart on price. He wouldn't budge and me neither. So I bought this one $1200.00 cheaper.
